LITTLE CHEFS
Imaginative play is so important for children, and our Clinton Early Childhood Center provides some pretty amazing opportunities for our littlest Cardinals.
Students in Mrs. Petry's class have been busy in their classroom's new dramatic play center, a pizza parlor. After reading the book, "Pete's a Pizza" students have been having fun pretending they are chefs. Students are learning all about shapes, sequences, counting, and graphing. They finished this learning unit by making their own mini pizzas!

KINDERGARTEN MATH SCHOLARS
Mrs. Olson's kindergarteners are becoming quite the mathematicians as they learn all about teen numbers.
Students recently practiced finding the group of ten, and then seeing the extras. They also had fun playing partner games to practice subitizing (instantly recognizing a number of objects without counting them) and writing numbers in the teens.

PUBLISHED STUDENT AUTHOR
January 27th was a very exciting day at Clinton Middle School! CMS 8th grader, and published author, Daniel Peek released his book to students, staff, and special guests during a book signing event.
Daniel participated in an interview with school librarian, Kiera Green where he shared his writing process with guests. Daniel then signed books and bookmarks for those in attendance.
Daniel was honored to have his family present, as well as his previous teachers from Henry Elementary and Clinton Intermediate School, school board member, Susan Jones-Hard, mayor, Carla Moberly, news media, and Representative, Jim Kalberloh. An exciting part of the event was when Daniel received a resolution from Representative Kalberloh.
Daniel was selected last year, after he submitted a rough draft copy of his story to Steven Kozan, a publisher, who visited with students at an assembly about the process of writing a book. We are so proud of Daniel and this huge accomplishment, and can't wait to see what his future holds!

CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION MONTH
The Clinton School District is dedicated to EDUCATING and EMPOWERING our students with the skills they need to be successful and ENGAGED adults after high school.
One of the ways the District accomplishes this goal is by providing cutting-edge, rigorous, and relevant Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs that prepare students for a wide range of high-wage, high-skill, and high-demand careers. Throughout the month of February, in honor of Career and Technical Education Month, we will be featuring each of our CTE programs and showing you the unique ways they are preparing students for their next steps in life.
One very exciting piece of the CTE programs at Clinton Technical School and Clinton High School, are the opportunities students have to earn industry-recognized credentials and take part in an internship here in our community.
Students in Mr. Stone's Automotive Technology class are earning career credentials through the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Entry-Level Certification program. Over the course of two years, students can earn 8 entry-level certifications and 2 advanced certifications.
Not only is Mr. Stone able to use the ASE exams to verify students' understanding of skills that have been taught, these certifications also allow students to make themselves marketable to potential employers even before they graduate high school. The Automotive Technology program currently has five students who are participating in internships here in Clinton. These students, pictured here, are currently receiving great hands-on experience at Jim Raysik, Gregg Smith, and Matteson Auto. The district is thankful for the strong partnerships we have with our community, and we are always looking for more!
Though our programs are not as "narrow" as their names suggest, we have eligible students in all of our career and technical education programs. This is an opportunity for you to invest in our future graduates and hopefully attract qualified individuals that will help your business grow. If you have a need, it is likely that we have a qualified student in one of the following areas: Accounting, Automotive, Building Trades, Computer Networking & Repair, Health Occupations, Graphic Design, Machine & Tool Technology, Marketing, Multimedia, and Welding. Click here to learn more about providing an internship for a student.
FRACTIONS WITH PIZZA
Clinton Intermediate School students in Mrs. Wilhite's 4th grade class are learning about fractions.
Students recently had fun making real-world connections with what they had learned about this math concept.
Students were tasked with creating a pretend 4, 6, or 8 slice pizza. Students had to make a variety of fractions using different toppings and create a key that explained the toppings used.

ALTERNATIVE METHODS OF INSTRUCTION (AMI)
DESE (Department of Elementary and Secondary Education) allows school districts to implement Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) plans on days that school is not able to be in session due to inclement weather. When school districts implement their AMI plan, the school hours lost due to closure do not have to be made up. On days that inclement weather forces the district to close school buildings, our messaging to you will inform you if the day will be a "traditional inclement weather day" or an "AMI day". Please watch for this information in the communication we provide.
TRANSPORTATION COMMUNICATION
If you would like to receive text messages regarding transportation-related issues (ie, buses running late, buses being combined, etc.) please complete the form below.
