Melinda Szymanik is an award-winning writer of picture books, junior and YA fiction, and short stories. She was the 2014 University of Otago College of Education Creative New Zealand Children’s Writer in Residence, and was a judge for the New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults in 2016.

Melinda is a cheerleader for children’s literacy and sits on the National Board of The New Zealand Society of Authors. She represents the NZSA in her role on the New Zealand Book Awards trust.
