A letter from Principal John Welsh
Dear Naval Avenue Families,
We Are The Dolphins!
During the last fifteen years, I have had the privilege to serve as the Principal at Naval Avenue Early Learning Center. I have enjoyed the opportunity to engage with the students, families, staff and community as I led, learned and grew as your principal.
I have enjoyed seeing former students return to Naval as Bremerton High School graduates as they do their Grad Walk through the hallways of our building where I first met them as they entered kindergarten. Naval Avenue Early Learning Center has provided fond and special memories for many of us and will continue with me for the rest of my life.
That is why the news I have to share with you is so bittersweet. I have accepted a position in the District as supervisor of COVID and special projects beginning in the fall. The search for a new Naval Avenue principal has begun, and the District will be inviting families to be a part of the process in the coming weeks.
We have much to be proud of. Our staff and students have achieved many initiatives in our district. We have developed programs that have met the individual needs of students. It has been an honor to guide and support an amazing group of educators who are dedicated to supporting students as they achieve their dreams. As I leave as principal, I am positive that our students are in good hands.
I am proud and humbled by the dedication of our parents and community who have committed their time and energy toward the betterment of our students. I know Naval will continue to be successful because of our parents and community partners who have strived to make Naval Avenue Early Learning Center the great place that it is.
The hardest thing about leaving Naval Avenue Early Learning Center is leaving those daily individual conversations I have had with students and staff where they express their pride in their accomplishments and voice their goals for the future.
We will continue to be safe, respectful, and responsible at Naval Avenue, as we transition from an Early Learning Center back to a comprehensive K-5 Elementary school and as a new principal welcomes our students. I hope to continue hearing those stories of achievement, pride and happiness from students, staff and families.
We Are the Dolphins!
Thank you,
John Welsh
