Weekly Report
Hello hello! The second grading period is underway. I hope you will view report cards on RDS. If you are having trouble getting on there, please call the office and Mrs. Podkul can reset your account.
We are taking a break from logs this next week. Instead I am sending home a few reading passages with questions. The kids can highlight text evidence to find answers. It will come out on Monday and be due on the Tuesday after fall break.
I moved lunch tables and also seats in the classroom. This helps out EVERYONE every once in awhile.
Ms. Berdine asked me to let you all know that there is a homework assignment on iPads. She said to study their notes because a test will be coming up shortly.
We will be watching the movie The Trumpet of the Swan on Thursday afternoon. The kids can bring a snack and a drink to enjoy while we celebrate finishing the chapter book.
Reading---Our weekly story is a tall tale called The Saga of Pecos Bill. We are going to work on it next week and the week after. The quiz will be on Wednesday, October 30. With Red Ribbon Week, Halloween, and fall break, there is just too much to properly get through a story. We will focus on elements of drama, literary elements, and figurative language.
Math--We will finish up Topic 3 on Monday. We will review for our test on Tuesday and Wednesday. We will take our test on Thursday before fall break. I am very pleased with how well the kids are picking up on their multiplication facts. Keep up the good work!
Spelling--The words focus on the /ch/ sound. The spelling list will last two weeks. Our spelling test will also be on Wednesday, October 30th for this list.
Social Studies--We finished up our current issue of Scholastic News. We will have a quiz over the issue on Tuesday, October 22rd. The kids did much better on the last quiz. I kept their issue here to look over with them again. I also posted the links to the articles on Google Classroom so they can read over them again at home before Tuesday's quiz. In Science, we are working on another lesson about erosion and landforms. We have a hands-on activity and will have our assessment after fall break. I will post the link in Google Classroom so the kids can review. I also let them watch the video while they take their quiz. We will also be starting a unit in Project Lead the Way. A video below explains PLTW. The program started last year in the elementary schools.
English-- We will work on concrete and abstract nouns. We will have our quiz on Thursday.
