MAP TESTING - GRADES 1 - 5

Your son/daughter will be participating in MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) assessments in math and reading on 9/21/20 - 10/2/20. MAP is an online assessment that Franklin teachers and other professional staff use to determine your child’s achievement levels, academic growth, and other information that can help to improve teaching and learning. The full MAP assessment will be administered again in January and May of this school year so achievement and growth can be monitored over time. Given the impact COVID-19 had on the 2019-20 school year it is important that we determine all students’ current learning needs so that we can tailor instruction to help every student be successful. A letter was sent home to parents on Thursday 9/17/20 with all the information. Below is the MAP Testing schedule for this week. Please ensure that your students are well rested and have a nutritious breakfast.

FPS CONTINUES TO USE STOPIT APP FOR INCIDENT REPORTS

Over the course of these first two weeks of school, all students are participating in a presentation about how to utilize the “StopIt” app. The motto with using the StopIt app is “if you see something, say something.” We utilized this app last year to collect reports from students for various reasons (bullying, unusual behavior, concern for other students) and we will continue to use it this year. Below is a 2-minute video that explains StopIt:
What is STOPit?
The apps for StopIt can be found here for iPhone and here for Android. Since use of the StopIt app requires a password, we have designed a graphic for our building that will be placed at the bottom of every newsletter in case you or your student needs it. Thank you to all parents and students for following the motto of “if you see something, say something.”
