To The Estacada Community

Dear Estacada Community,

Our community has had three unexpected deaths in the past week and a half resulting in our students, families, staff, and members of the wider Estacada community experiencing significant pain, loss, and grief. As we lean on the strength of our bonds to one another, please know that you are not alone and that there is support available. In consultation with support service experts through Clackamas County, we offer these ideas on how to access support for yourself and get help for one another.

1. Reach out to one another. Supportive messaging such as, “You are not alone,” and “I care about you” can give others permission to talk about what they are experiencing, or ask for
help.

2. Use the following resources to get assistance for yourself or someone you know
*Clackamas County Crisis and Support available to call 24/7 –503-655-8585
*Oregon YouthLine available to text or call 24/7---877-968-8491

3. Dougy Center website for grief and loss groups, and community, family, or school resources https://www.dougy.org/

4. Reach out to the administrators and/or school counselors at any of the schools in the district if you are in need of support, or you feel like your child may be in need of extra support, or if you have any concerns that you would like to share.

5. Starting November 19th, Estacada High School will have a Resiliency Room open for students two days a week during our 30 minute Ranger Time. This room will offer students a place to gather where they can keep their hands busy with puzzles, art, crafts etc., while receiving healthy support from peers and a school counselor if they are facing grief, loss of any kind, or are struggling with emotions such as anxiety or depression.

We are also looking at options for an evening grief support event that would be open to the entire community. Topics at this event could include strategies around talking to people experiencing grief, how to process grief, what signs to look for in loved ones that they may be overwhelmed and in need of more help, what the grief process looks like, and how death can activate new or old pain for people who may not have personally known the deceased persons. If you have ideas about other ways we can support our community, please reach out and let us know, our office staff will be able to take your suggestions or assist you with questions. Parent Input Needed

Please Take Our Parent Satisfaction Survey

District Families,

Our district is on a continuous journey to make our schools the best places for students to learn, staff to work, and parents to send their children for a good education. In this effort, we appreciate your support. It is important to gather feedback from you to celebrate successes and identify areas for growth. Please take a few minutes and complete this Parent Satisfaction Survey to help provide this feedback.

Once the survey is complete, the results will be analyzed by an outside organization. The data from the survey will be sent to each school and the Superintendent. Then, the results of the survey will be shared with parents and the community.

The survey can be accessed online at: Estacada School District Parent Satisfaction Survey.

The survey will be open from 11/04 – 11/26/2019.

Thank you for interest in and support of your child’s education with us. Please contact me if you have any questions concerning the survey.
