Neptunes Largest Moon
What is it?
Triton is a moon of Neptune. It's the largest out of 13 moons.
Triton was discovered by William Lassell. William Lassell was a British brewer and a amateur astronomer. Lassell discovered Triton in 1864. It was discovered 17 days after Neptune was.
It is 1,700 miles in diameter. It's 220,440 miles from Neptune. Doesn't orbit in the same direction it goes the opposite. It takes Triton six days to orbit around Neptune once. In a billion years Triton will become so close to Neptune it will become a ring. The surface of Triton is about -390 degrees Fahrenheit. It has impact craters and ice volcanoes.
