Message from Dr. Kaminski
What an interesting week we have had with weather at BSE. Although the weather has been challenging, it has also offered the BSE staff and students the opportunity to work through important weather drills. I am so proud of our students for remaining calm, listening to directions, and being creative with playing games as they awaited the passing of the storms. I also appreciate all of our parents who were caring and kind during the transition to safety. I am looking forward to the cool fall weather for sure!
SCHOOL DISMISSAL MANAGER is coming to BSE. For new parents, this is our paperless, parent controlled dismissal tool that allows you to dictate where your children go each day, without having to send in notes or make phone calls. Directions will be coming to you via a Skylert as soon as our data is in the system. This could be as soon as Monday, the 29th, and no later than September 1st. Until then, continue to communicate with your teacher, and feel free to call our office to notify of us changes. Please do so prior to 2 pm daily. Thank you for being great communicators, as we have had very little dismissal disruption this year. With SDM (School Dismissal Manager) our delivery success is maximized. More info coming soon!
Our students have been working through their math and reading assessments on NWEA and you will be getting their beginning of year scores via an email from your teacher when the data is final. This will take another week minimum, but expect for your teacher to reach out with that data soon.
I thank you all for your continued support for our BSE Bears!

Response-to-Instruction (RtI)
RtI is a general education initiative designed to provide high quality instruction and interventions matched to student needs, and using learning rate over time and level of performance to make important educational decisions. The RtI model is based on a three-tiered model of service delivery with a focus on early intervention and prevention of academic and behavioral concerns. Data collected during this process provides valuable information regarding students’ educational progress and response to interventions. Students who do not demonstrate a response to well-implemented, scientifically-based interventions at the Tier 3 level would be referred for an educational evaluation to determine eligibility for special education. RtI is a component of HSE’s Child Find Process.
