Back to School Night on Wednesday, 8/31, 6:15 PM
The Counseling and Administration team will host a welcome session from 6:15-6:30 PM. Space is limited. We will also record and show the session live on YouTube (link will be on our website) for those who are not able to join the session due to limited space. This Back to School Night flyer has an overview of the event and a template that helps you record teachers' Zoom links that they will send by Monday, 8/29, along with a class video.
Picture Day
Next Tuesday (8/30) is ID Picture Day! Students will be taking photos during PE classes in the Gym. 5th period teachers have given out picture order form to students to take home for families who are interested in ordering school photos. Please complete the order form if you would like and have your child turn it in to the photographer on 8/30.
Counselor Class Visits
Starting next week and through mid-September, counselors Ms. Moore and Ms. Kim will be visiting 7th and 8th grade English classes to introduce themselves and go through bullying and harassment prevention education with our students. Social emotional learning is our commitment as a school and district.
7th Grade Townhall
Assistant principal Mrs. Moore will be facilitating this presentation with our 7th graders on Thursday, 9/1, to go over school expectations and policies. This will take place through 7th grade science classes in the C Flex space.
8th Grade Community Check-ins
I'll be going to 8th grade classes during the Read period starting the week of 9/6. This is to review school policies and expectations with our 8th graders and will take roughly 10 minutes.
Student Clubs
A list of student clubs can be found on our website, under "About & Departments." Some clubs have begun to meet. This information is available in our Daily Bulletin shown during 1st period each day and also posted on our website for families to view at home. Clubs' regular meeting times are posted and all students interested are welcome to join. Students can also start a club -- simply let their grade-level counselor know (Ms. Moore for 7th and Ms. Kim for 8th grade) and the counselor will guide them in the process.
September Ceremonies and Observances
September is around the corner. It is the Deaf Awareness Month. September 15 also begins the Latinx Heritage Month. Please see our district calendar for other celebrations in the month. Monday, 9/5, is a school holiday for Labor Day.

Coffee with the Principal
We invite families to enjoy coffee and informal chats with me as the new principal this coming Friday, 8/26, from 8:30-9:30 am.
Free Breakfast and Lunch
Students can pick up free breakfast from 7:15-8:15 am each day and lunch from our newly remodeled kitchen. Starting the week of 8/22, students will need to enter their School ID to pick up their food. Thank you for helping students remember their School ID (the same as their elementary school ID in FUSD).
Lunch Drop-offs
On occasions when you need to drop off lunch for students, please leave the lunchbox in our cart in front of the Main Office. For campus security, during school hours we are keeping students from going towards the parking lot to meet with family members.
Pick-up Time
Our school ends at 2:27 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays; and it ends at 1:24 pm on Wednesdays (see bell schedules below). We ask that families start to arrive for pick up no more than 30 minutes before the bell to minimize clogging up Driscoll traffic unnecessarily.
Library Open Hours
We are excited about our newly remodeled library and are working hard to set it up so it's ready to open in September. We will also be sending out a student and family survey soon so you can provide input regarding open hours and learning enrichment activities.
Hopkins on Twitter
Check out @HopkinsHawks to see what happens on campus.
We hope you enjoy time as a family this weekend to talk about at least one thing that your student enjoyed at Hopkins this past week and spend time together outdoors if possible.
Warm regards,
Nancy Kuei
