Monthly Core Value/Character Spotlight
Collaborative Community
Working with others so that we may all achieve our goals.
Demonstrated by... being helpful, encouraging others, including everyone, being respectful of other's work and opinions, not arguing, sharing, taking turns, offering to help others, and valuing teamwork.
This month we have been very busy learning about perseverance and collaborative community! Our students have been discussing what it means to persevere and how to keep trying our best, even when something is difficult. Throughout the month, students have been sharing how they can use perseverance to have a growth mindset. Next month we are looking forward to having an Attitude of Gratitude! Thank you for your continued support of our Zwink Zebras!

Celebrating and Recognizing Attendance at Zwink!
Our students with perfect attendance for the 2nd quarter will be celebrated with a dance party this week, and two students won bikes for their perfect attendance, as well. We will be holding two challenges this nine weeks which includes a staff vs. student recess challenge for those with perfect attendance between January 16th and February 14th. Additionally, we have been working with community businesses to raffle off gift cards. Students with perfect attendance for the third nine weeks (including students with medical notes) will be entered into a drawing for one gift card per grade level.
Research shared from absencesaddup.org states that “encouraging regular school attendance is one of the most powerful ways you can prepare your child for success—both in school and in life. When you make school attendance a priority, you help your child get better grades [and] develop healthy life habits. When students are absent for fewer days, their grades and reading skills often improve—even among those students who are struggling in school. Students who attend school regularly also feel more connected to their community, develop important social skills and friendships, and are significantly more likely to graduate from high school, setting them up for a strong future.” At Zwink we encourage students to come to school and grow in academic and social skills. If you have to miss, please send a doctor’s note within 5 days to excuse the absence.
