*Raider Nation Announcements*
Wylie East FCCLA (that’s Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) is collecting donations of travel sized toiletry items to create hygiene kits for homeless shelters. They have already collected 377 individual items, and they have a goal of 500 items! Donations can be dropped off in room 441.
Book Club! The WEHS book club will be having their first meeting on Jan. 20 in the library. They will be discussing their first book, ‘The Inheritance Games’ by Jennifer Barnes. The first 5 people to sign up will get a free copy of the book! Stop by and see Mrs. Townsend or Mrs. McFarland with any questions.
Seniors! If you want financial aid for college, you must complete the FAFSA! The Texas priority deadline is tomorrow!!! Not sure how to do that? See your counselor for more information! They are happy to help you out!
ID Badges: Starting in January, 11th/12th graders wishing to leave campus during lunch will be required to show their physical ID badge, rather than the Skyward badge. The purpose of this change is to expedite the traffic as students exit and ensure that only students who are supposed to be leaving are actually leaving.
Interested in joining the Raider Baseball team? Baseball tryouts are coming up!
Friday, Jan 21st @ 4:40 WEHS Baseball Field
See Coach Andrews if you have any questions.
Are you interested in completing in track and field? If so, we will be having try outs for all students who are currently not in athletes. If you are currently competing in a sport - this is not for you. We are looking for those students who are currently not in any sports but wanting to compete in track and field. We will be having an informational meeting on Friday Jan. 14th. You will need to come to room 253 (Coach Mac's Room) during A lunch. See you there!
Don’t forget that Lady Raider Softball Tryouts are this Friday and Saturday, January 14th and 15th! Friday tryouts will be from 4:20-6:30, and Saturday from 11am-2pm. If you have softball experience, please come out and join us at the softball field! You will need to attend both days, unless cleared by Coach McNulty in advance. If you have any questions, stop by to see Coach McNulty in room 946.

*Raider Nation SHOUT OUTS*
Three Jimmy John’s Students of the Week and their teachers/coaches had some awesome things to say about them!
-Kinsey Clark-- Kinsey is a polite and sweet young lady that works extremely hard.
-Justina Rosario- Justina is one of the kindest and most genuine young ladies on Sapphires. She's a hard worker inside and outside of practice. We are proud to have her as a member of this team.
-Alyssa Striker-- Alyssa is a wonderful athlete that has represented Wylie East in multiple sports. She is an excellent student and provides a very good example inside the hallways, classroom and inside the competition. She maintains a very high level of character in all situations and reflects our girls athletic department in all the right ways. Alyssa is a special person and we are lucky to have her on our campus!
Girls Volleyball: Grace Christner, Laken Dillon, and Miranda Howard made Academic All-State for volleyball. We are really proud of these ladies for not only working hard on the court, but also in the classroom. Congratulations to Grace, Laken, and Miranda!
Lady Raider Soccer:
From the tournament last weekend-CONGRATULATIONS!!
JV went 3-0 this weekend!
Varsity went 3-0 this weekend
WEHS Choir:
We are so proud of our four students who auditioned at the area round this past weekend at Texas A&M-Commerce! These four, along with many others, started this process back in July. The Texas All-State process begins with over 70,000 musicians across the state, and only 1,800 will be chosen for the honor of being in one the All-State Choirs, Bands, and Orchestras. The selection rate is under 3%!
We are proud to announce that Wylie East will be represented by THREE amazing young people!
Carolyn Childrey, junior, Alto 2, earned 6th Chair in the All-State Treble Choir. This is her FIRST All-State selection.
Elbert Haney, senior, Tenor 1, earned 2nd Chair in the All-State Mixed Choir. This is his THIRD All-State selection, a feat only achieved by one other student in school history.
Eva Shipp, junior, Soprano 2, earned 2nd Chair in the All-State Treble Choir. This is her FIRST All-State selection.
