Dear Parents,
Thank you so much for all of your support and encouragement as we were remote learning last week. It was great to have our Wildcats back in the building this week. Here is a quick summary of what’s included in this week's newsletter:
- Kindergarten Registration - Kindergarten registration begins on March 1st. If you know of a family that will have a child turning 5 on or before August 1st, please share this information with them. Registration will be on-line. Students who are already enrolled in our pre-k program are already enrolled and will not need to complete online enrollment.
- Read Across America Week is next week! We have special dress-up days each day of the week. Monday, March 1st - Oh The Places You Will Go - Dress up like a Superhero. Tuesday, March 2nd- Green Eggs & Ham - Wear Green. Wednesday, March 3rd - The Cat and the Hat - Hat Day - wear a hat! Thursday, March 4th - Horton Hatches an Egg - Dress up like an animal. Friday, March 5th - The Foot Book - Wear Pajamas & Crazy Socks. We can't wait to see all of our Wildcats dressing up next week!
- Breakfast & Lunch Menus for March
Student-Led Conferences - Student-led conferences are the week of March 1st-4th. Most conferences will be happening on our two late nights which are Monday and Tuesday of that week. If you need to change your time, please call the office or contact your child's teacher.
Pre-K - Our Springdale pre-K program is enrolling now for paid spots. These spots are for families that do not meet state requirements for free pre-K.
"Little Cougs" Basketball Camp - Southwest Junior High is hosting a "Little Cougs" basketball camp throughout April and May for boys and girls in 2nd-6th grades and is free of charge. This camp will teach the fundamentals of basketball. The dates are on the following Saturdays: April 10th, 24th, May 8th, and 22nd, from 10:00-11:30. Sign-up information is below.
Virtual Parent Night - Ozark Guidance, Arisa Health is hosting a virtual parent night on Tuesday, March 9th from 6:00-7:00 pm on Positive Parenting Strategies. English and Spanish sessions will be happening simultaneously, but separately. These sessions are sponsored by Promoting Positive Emotions - a crisis counseling support program free to Arkansans. All registrants will receive a link to the recording of the live presentation and handouts.
Spring Break is March 22-26th
Yearbook Orders - If you have not yet ordered a yearbook, you can do so online. Information is linked below.
Counselor's Corner - Check out Mrs. Waterman's Counseling Corner for some tips to help your child stay positive.
Recycled Bench - We are still collecting containers to earn a recycled bench for our playground.
Masks - Don't forget to have your child wear a mask or a buff to school each day. Also, we would like for all students to carry extra face coverings in their backpacks so they can switch out during the day if needed.

- Conferencias dirigidas por estudiantes: las conferencias dirigidas por estudiantes son la semana del 1 al 4 de marzo. In our current pandemic, it is a reality that it is harder to stay positive. Our lives have changed in so many ways and normal life has become more stressful. It is really important that we find positivity in our lives even during a pandemic. I read an article titled “How to Stay Positive During A Pandemic” found liked below. This article was very helpful at pointing out some ways that may help us manage some of our stress in our lives. I have listed some of their suggestions.
· Learn a new language
· Try some new recipes
· Do yoga
· Meditation
· Get regular exercise
· Stay connected with family and friends through phone calls or social media
I hope some of these suggestions will help! Hang in there. We are all in this together.
