Muskego Lakes Family Newsletter
December 22, 2022
Dear Muskego Lakes Families,
As we look at wrapping up 2022, we wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to all all you.
We are so thankful for all the ways you partner with us to make sure Muskego Lakes is a home away from home for students. We work hard every day to connect hearts and minds, making sure every single student is seen, heard, and knows they matter here.
From the classroom to your home and all points in-between, together our collective efforts provide the support system our students need to learn, grow, fail, and get back up again.
We know that these middle school years can be tough. Our students are exploring their passions, seeking independence, developing their character, testing boundaries, and picking up on quite a bit as they watch and listen to the adults in their lives who care about them.
Thank you for entrusting us with your most precious gift, your children. We are beyond grateful for our wonderful, talented, creative, inquisitive, optimistic, resourceful, and resilient Muskies. Often, they make us laugh; offer us new ideas/perspectives; and surprise us with all that they are capable of doing and overcoming. Most of all, they make us better.
Know that we will always be here for you and your children. And if the holiday season is a tough one for your family, don't hesitate to reach out. We will support in anyway we can. We are a community here at Muskego Lakes that extends beyond the walls of the school- and we truly mean that.
Have a safe and joyous holiday season,
With love,
Rachel Rydzewski & Nancy Pasch

Upcoming 8th Grade MHS High School Orientation Information
Muskego High School invites all students and families to two important events intended to assist with the transition to high school and the course selection/registration process.
Our first event is the Muskego High School Orientation Evening on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. This night is intended to provide some insight as to what makes MHS such an amazing place and what it means to be a Muskego Warrior. Students and families will hear about important factors to a successful transition to high school and will get a chance to hear current high school students share stories about their experience with the transition. Presentations will be facilitated by the administrative team, the athletic director, and our school counseling team. Families will also have the opportunity to meet coaches and club advisors, and take a self-guided tour.
In an effort to maintain two relatively equal size presentation groups and maximize the opportunity to engage in the learning, please follow the alphabetical schedule below. Our orientation event will begin promptly at 6:00 PM with the presentations described in the outline below.

The second event, Muskego High School Course Information Night, is open to all current and incoming students/families. The goal of this event is to provide students and families access to our entire teaching staff to ask questions about the specific details and expectations of the various courses we offer. This event will take place on Wednesday, January 25th, and will be run in an open house format from 5:00-8:00.
We are excited to begin our partnership together and hope to see you at these important events. If you have any questions about either event, please contact our Student Services Office at (262) 971-1790, ext. 4509.

Staff Member Spotlight - Mr. Schaller
We asked him to share a little about himself and his career in education, in addition to what what makes him proud to work at Muskego Lakes and he said:
"I began my education career as a guest teacher for 4 1/2 years, and then moved into my permanent teaching role for the past 10 years. I am proud to work at Muskego Lakes, because it is a school that focuses on the whole child, social, emotional, and academic. All of these influence learning, and this is a school that takes learning seriously. We hold students to the highest of standards, and us staff grow in our practice together year after year as well. It has been a wonderful environment to continue my growth as an educator!"
Here is a little more to help you get to know Mr.Schaller
Favorite Coffee Drink: I don't usually drink coffee, but I love ginger or peppermint tea
Favorite Subject When In Middle School: Social studies and literacy
Fun Fact About Me: I've played piano since I was 5.
My Dream Vacation: A safari in Africa or a trip to the Himalayas, I can't decide.
My Students Would Describe As: Calm, sometimes "cringe" as they'd say, with my jokes or songs, but I embrace that :)
