Welcome Back!

I hope that everyone had a fun and relaxing Christmas break. Welcome back to school. This is a great time of year as we just had a chance to recharge. We will be very focused on growing as readers, writers, mathematicians, and scientist! Our reading 3D assessment window begins this week and will continue through the month of January. Reading 3D focuses on reading skills and assessment.

Classroom Curriculum

Reader's Workshop - We have started a new unit: Characters: Paying attention to action. This week we will be studying character traits and how we can use pictures to help us infer a character's feelings.
Writer's Workshop - We will begin an new unit: Writing Reviews. In this unit children will love sharing their opinions! Our first few days we will focus on sharing our opinion, giving several reasons and trying to convince others.
Math Workshop - Isn't about time we start looking at clocks? This week children will learn that: analog and digital clocks are tools to measure time, Why is telling time essential for our daily lives, and telling time to the hour and half hour.
Science - Children will begin to recognize that animals need air, water, space, food and shelter and that these may be found in their environment.
