Class of 2020 Counseling Update
June 2020
Dear Class of 2020,
In the time we have spent together, there have been some reoccurring themes that we have discussed that I feel would be appropriate to use in my attempt to say Good-Bye to a classy bunch of people.
We have discussed your hopes for the future, your purpose in life, and the pursuit of what will make you happy. My hope for you is to find the greatest success. NOT in what you’ll buy or own, but in the pride you feel for the person you are and who you will become. My hope for you is self-confidence and self-exploration, for you are the one who holds the key to a life which reaches far beyond what is now…. and what will be.
Throughout your life there will be people who will love you for your greatness. Hold on to these people and cherish the time you have with them. There will also be others who have lost their way and will look to distract you from becoming the person you were meant to be. Remember to show these people compassion while you continue to focus on the work of your life, which is to discover your purpose. Continue to look for the good in everyone. I know... easier said then done sometimes. But, TRY anyway!!!
Never make the mistake of allowing another person to define who you are. That is for you and you alone to decide. You all have been blessed with so many talents. Please take the time to develop these gifts and share them with the world.
Never underestimate the power of your words and actions. With one small gesture you can change a person’s life. For better or worse. We are put in each other’s lives to impact one another in some way.
In closing, I want to use a quote a great thinker once used when asked what happiness was. He answered by saying, “Happiness isn’t a destination. It’s a journey”. So as you take your next steps toward this wonderful journey, I want to thank you for sharing your greatness and remember I am here for you always.
Love,
Ms. DiLuzio
