Kicking off the School Year: Together

Welcome Back to School

We hope everyone has had a great summer and is ready to begin an engaging and productive year with our theme "We're in this Together". We enjoyed meeting many of you at the open house on Thursday, and we also had a great time welcoming our incoming 6th grade class at Bridge camp this past Saturday.

Please take a moment to read over the items in this newsletter, as we have some important updates as well as general information about the school year to share.

NEW Mask Requirements

*NEW* Mask Requirements and Quarantine Procedures

The district has made an emergency decision to require face coverings for all students until at least Sept 3. If you wish for your student to opt out of this requirement, you must fill out the

opt out form

As always, please do not send your child to school if they are not feeling well. Students who are determined to have been in contact with a positive case will be quarantined unless they can provide proof of vaccination for Covid-19. Thank you for working with us to keep our school healthy and safe for all.

UNIFORMS

Students wear navy, black, or gray Polo shirts Monday -Thursday. On Fridays students may wear any Davidsen Spirit shirt they choose. Spirit shirts and polos are available at the Dragon Gear Spirit Shop. Plain polos in navy, black, or gray may be purchased at any retail store. Students wear Black or Khaki (tan) pants, shorts, and skirts. Length must be at or below fingertips when arms are down. Orders will be delivered to student homerooms. Please direct any questions on purchasing or picking up orders to spiritline@davidsenptsa.org

Where to go on the first day of school

School begins at 9:25am. Students may begin entering campus at 9:05am.

All students should report to homeroom. If they would like breakfast before the bell they should report to the cafeteria. If you were unable pick up a paper schedule or you can't see it on Canvas, your child can ask for help from one of the several staff members who will be on hand to help them get where they need to go.

Pick up and Drop Off Procedures

Cars should use the SECOND parking lot from Linebaugh and wait in the car line until a staff member releases them at the designated spot. Students will be allowed to enter campus beginning at 9:05am. Please do not enter at the first parking lot, as it is reserved for faculty and buses only. Walkers and bikers must use the crosswalks and sidewalks, and may lock their bikes at the bike racks located behind the car line.

SCHEDULES AND ADJUSTMENTS

We have approximately 1000 students at various levels, grades, and elective choices. Therefore, scheduling issues are common. We ask for your patience as we will be working to correct, adjust, and balance schedules during the first few weeks of school. Students with missing or duplicated periods will be prioritized over all other adjustments. If you have any concerns with your student's placement level, please contact your guidance counselor.

Cell Phone Policy

Cell phones should be put away in backpacks and used only when teachers allow them for instructional or other educational purposes. This rule also applies during lunch. Phones may be temporarily confiscated if students do not follow our cell phone policy.

Every Monday students are released one hour early.

Canvas is our digital platform and will continue to be used by students and teachers. Please make sure you have access to Canvas in order to contact teachers and track your student's progress throughout the year. log in to Canvas at
