Change for After School Walkers

We would like to ask our after school walkers not to walk along the front of the building. Walkers who are headed east have been running into the bus lines leaving the building, and there is not sufficient room on the sidewalk. We are concerned for the safety of all. Instead, we would like walkers to walk toward the red flow zone gates and use the sidewalk that runs along Bridle Lane. Please contact Mrs. Craig if you have questions at

Cooler Weather is Coming!

Washington uses a Cold Weather Color Scale to serve as a guideline for dressing for the weather. We do our best to enforce these guidelines for recess grades ADK-3rd and we highly encourage them for grades 4 & 5. If the feels-like temperature is below zero or there is heavy rain/snow, we have recess indoors. Otherwise, we like to give students time to play in the fresh air. Boots and snowpants are needed to play in snow. Please encourage your child to dress appropriately for the weather.

You can view the Cold Weather Scale on the Washington website under Our School/School Information or by clicking this link: Cold Weather Scale.

Title I Information

Washington is one of six schools in D200 receiving TItle I funds. Parents will soon receive a copy of the Title I compact to read and sign. Read more about TItle I and how it supports our students: Title I.

Help Needed: Lunch/Recess (Paid Position)

Washington is looking for at least one lunch supervisor for the 2018-2019 school year. Parents, grandparents, or neighbors are welcome! This is a paid position with an hourly rate. Work times are approximately 11:45am - 1:15pm. We would consider your help even if you can only work a few days a week. If you are interested, please email Mrs.Craig at and apply via the CUSD 200 website.

Knight Writers (and Speakers...and Video Creators)

As part of the CUSD 200 Vision 2022 teachers in all grades are focusing on developing students' skills in writing and message production (speaking, presenting, creating videos). We are also working to create opportunities for students to write and communicate with authentic audiences. Student writing and message production will be included in the Knightly News this year. Enjoy!
