Labor Day Week
First, I hope everyone is having a wonderful Labor Day Weekend! This is the last three-day weekend for some time, so I'm hoping you are all making good use of it. This week one of our main focuses will be the transition of COVID-19 testing onto our site campuses. Earlier today our district released information on what COVID-19 protocols will look like for the foreseeable future. The video from our Superintendent Heather Armelino is attached below with the most up-to-date details on our district's COVID-19 response.
There are two important options parents have if their child's class has a COVID-19 close contact. The first option is to choose not to test your child. In that situation, a child would need to stay out of school for ten days after the last date of exposure. These would count as excused absences and as a parent, you would work with the school to get work for the time your child is out of class. The second option is to test your child. Our district is now providing on-site COVID testing for students. This requires parent authorization which can be done in the Powerschool Parent Portal or with a physical permission slip. You can also have your child test outside of school. If you choose to have your child tested they will need to be tested twice over a week's time. If we have a permission slip on file we will schedule school-based testing and will notify you if there is a positive result.
I highly encourage you to consider school-based COVID testing for your child/children. This is a great way to help us keep our classrooms and school open for students. Your partnership in the fight against COVID-19 is crucial.
Please review the rest of this newsletter for other important announcements and events happening on campus. We appreciate your continued support!
Thank You,
