District News: Interviews For New Superintendent

Board of Education invites three finalists to interview for next Superintendent of Schools

Soldotna, January 22, 2021—Three candidates will interview for the opportunity to become the next KPBSD Superintendent of Schools, on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. The KPBSD Board of Education invites everyone to watch the interviews live, or view the video later in the day.

Plus, everyone is invited to a Virtual Meet and Greet with each finalist on Monday, January 25, 2021, and then to provide input to the school board no later than Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m.

Virtual Meet and Greet, Monday, January 25, 2021

Everyone is invited to watch a 30-minute virtual meet and greet with each candidate via the KPBSD livestream, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The video recording for each candidate will be available on the KPBSD website after 2:00 p.m., for everyone who is not able to watch the livestream.

Provide your thoughts to the Board of Education

Everyone is invited to offer feedback to the school board via a short online input survey, specific for each candidate, after watching the candidate virtual meet and greet livestream or viewing the video recording on Monday. Survey links will become live on the Superintendent Search webpage when each meet and greet begins. All surveys will close at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2021.

Candidate Interviews, Tuesday, January 26, 2021

Interviews will begin at 10:15 a.m., Tuesday, January 26, 2021, via the KPBSD zoom platform, and be livestreamed. The public is invited to watch the livestream, or view the board meeting portion of interviews that will be posted on the KPBSD website later in the day. Each candidate will be allotted the same length of time, and asked identical questions.

PAC Meeting

Battle of the Books

It's that time of year again! The KPBSD district-wide competition schedule is as follows:


Thursday, February 4 at 9:00 am - High School

Tuesday, February 9 at 9:00 am - Middle School

Wednesday, February 10 at 9:30 am - Grades 5/6

Thursday, February 11 at 9:30 am - Grades 3/4


All teams will participate in 4 rounds. The 4 teams with the highest scores will move on to the final round which will be held at 1:00 pm each day.


Cooper Landing School has a 3/4, 5/6 and high school team this year. Thanks to Ms. Krissy for her dedication and perseverance in making the teams the best they can be!


State finals are the week of February 22.

A friendly reminder that all students out sick, regardless of whether they have been sent home from school, or you have opted to keep them home must follow district protocol for COVID19 quarantining. This means they must quarantine for 10 days AND not return until they have been symptom free for 24 hours OR they may get tested and return to school after a negative test result AND remaining symptom free for 24 hours. Students must be medication free to be considered symptom free.
