Welcome back, Thomas Families!
Are you roaring to get back to school for the 2022-2023 school year? I trust you have made many treasured memories this summer. Mrs. Davis was fortunate to take some time in July with her two girls and husband. She did not stray too far from home, but most of the cherished times took place during walks and conversations. Mrs. Axelband, our Thomas Assistant Principal, enjoyed time with her three boys and husband vacationing with family on the beaches of Florida. We strive to be mindful of the important job we have as parents and principals, supporting all children reaching their many milestones and pursuing passions. It is an honor to serve the Thomas Community! We are thrilled to get back to school!
This year will be an exciting year for every child, from the day they find their classroom teacher (the week of August 8th) to the multitude of learning celebrations and activities planned. Families, thank you in advance for volunteering your time and talents throughout the year. Children need to see family members play an active role in education. It emphasizes the importance of learning and the partnership between home and school.

Families, you will have an opportunity to meet all staff at our Thomas Walkthrough, Tuesday, August 16, 2022. Students with the last name beginning A-K will visit 2:00-2:30 p.m. Students with the last name beginning L-Z will attend 2:30-3:00 p.m. This will help spread the number of visitors out during our big event. New families are invited to meet in the gym from 3:00-3:30p.m. after visiting the classroom for an optional time with the school counselor and principal.
During the walkthrough, several informational tables will be set up, such as P.T.O., DCS Transportation, and Scouts. You will be able to visit your child’s classroom, say hello to the teacher, and meet back in the commons and playgrounds. As time is limited, if you have more information to share with your child’s teacher, please consider emailing the communication or setting up a time to talk. The Thomas P.T.O. has invited the Kona Ice Truck to visit if you wish to purchase a treat.
School Information Videos will take the place of Curriculum Nights this year. Teachers will create an informational video, sharing routines, curriculum, and the practices of the classroom. This will be sent home on Friday, August 19th from your child’s teacher. These informational videos will help families develop a clear understanding of the grade level and classroom. It will remain accessible to families as a resource.
Thomas Elementary is committed to a focus on meeting the needs of the whole child. Safety, of course, is the ultimate priority. Our district is also poised to support Social emotional and mental health! We are pleased to share our solid strides in the area of achievement too, as our teachers have implemented very purposeful, data-driven instruction, and formative assessment. Our staff is truly dedicated to enhancing the growth of each student. We are ready for the best year ever!
Yours truly,
Mrs. Jenny Davis

DISTRICT NEWS
District Information
Masks Welcome During 2022-2023 School Year
Our plan is to start the school year as normal as possible. The District will comply with orders or mandates from agencies with jurisdiction. Absent an order, the administration will communicate recommendations or advisories and let parents make the decision that is best for their family.
COVID-19 will be treated as we have traditionally handled any infectious illnesses in our schools, each having specific exclusion criteria. Individuals with confirmed cases of COVID-19 should remain out of school for 5 days and may return on day 6 if symptoms have improved. We ask that individuals take personal responsibility for monitoring their health and the health of their family and stay home until they are feeling better.
We will not require masks and we will not contact trace. The Dublin City School District ended the 2021-2022 school year without a mask mandate, and we were able to have critical face-to-face instruction. We will continue to be “mask welcome” at all grade levels.
