Roosevelt Weekly Parent Info
Happy Thursday! A few reminders as we begin the year:
~ Rocky Time begins on Tuesday: The first Rocky Time of the year is coming soon!!! For those of you new to Roosevelt, this is a chance for multi-age groups of students to come together and build connectedness and relationships among students and staff while empowering learners to navigate the changing world. That’s just a fancy way of saying that we want to build relationships throughout the building, to give opportunities for older students to be leaders, and to teach important life skills to all. If you'd like to view more information, here's a link to the parent letter.
~ Walk-A-Thon kick-off: The Roosevelt Walk-A-Thon officially kicked off last Friday! Hopefully you've been able to collect some donations over the course of the last week. Prizes will be given out to those students who raise $75 or more, as well as for those students who ask the most people. If you can volunteer to help with the walk on October 4, please email Kelsey Bellig at kelseybellig@gmail.com.
~ Box Tops and Hy-Vee Receipts: Roosevelt collects both Hy-Vee Receipts and Box Tops. As you collect these, please have your child bring them to the Roosevelt Office. New this year: Box Tops is moving to using an app to collect Box Tops. It's as simple as getting the app, and following the directions. It does include scanning your receipt, so be sure to save the receipt when you buys items that qualify for Box Tops. Some items still have the Box Tops that you cut off, while other products have transitioned to having your receipt scanned. Apparently, this is super simple to do, so check it out!
~ Safety Reminders: As the year gets underway, please remember a few of these safety reminders:
1) Drop-off should only occur CURBSIDE! Please take the extra time needed to make sure this happens.
2) Patience goes a long during drop-off and pick-up times! Please do NOT double park or park in crosswalks.
3) Please talk with your child about street safety and stranger danger. These conversations should occur regularly with your child.
4) If your child is getting picked-up, and they find themselves on the playground and no one has come, please remind them that they MUST come to the office. Door #8 is always open after school due to ACES, and there's a doorbell at Door #1 that they can use to be let into the building.
