Time Frame
The evangelical movement as such began in the 1730s and 1740s with the first "Great Awakening" involving the preaching of George Whitefield, Johnathan Edwards, and John Wesley among others especially in America. This period represented the beginnings of revivalism. When meetings would be held in various communities and many would decide to "accept christ" in a conversion experience. This "awakening" along with the second"Great Awakening" of the 1820s-1840s resulted in the christianization" of young America and the dominace of evangelicalism over the American religous climate.

George whitefield , also known as George Whitfield, was an English Anglican eleric who helped spread the "Great Awakening"in Britain and especially in the American colonies
