Assessment
Mid-Year Scantron Assessment
The window for the Mid-Year Test is January 2 through February 21, 2020.
- Mandatory testing for newly enrolled students not tested in the fall, and students scoring in Quartiles 1 and 2 on the Baseline Test.
- Recommended for all students in grades 2 through 8 as a progress check.
- Optional for Kindergarten and 1st grade students.

Science Assessment
The Scantron Science Assessment testing window is from April 20, 2020 – May 29, 2020. Students in 5th and 8th grade that are enrolled in a school that has BOOST Scholarship students and required to take this exam. In order to meet all requirements of the scholarship, students will take a nationally normed Science assessment focusing only on Life Science.
The Life Science portion of Performance Series covers items grouped into three units: Living Things, Ecology, and Science Process Skills.

Opportunities
D.C. Declaration of Learning Program
Encourage critical and creative thinking and bring the subjects you teach to life through the
D.C. Declaration of Learning program. The year-long program will begin with a one-week workshop from July 20-24. The program is free, and educators will receive a stipend for their work. Educators selected to participate will benefit by:
- Uncovering stories of our rich cultural heritage, history, diplomacy, and civic action through objects, art, and primary sources from national and local collections
- Object-based training by museum leaders and unparalleled digital access to their collections and sites for you and your students
- Taking learning outside the classroom through student-led, teacher-directed civic engagement projects
- One-on-one mentoring by experienced mentors who are former program participants
- Opportunities to represent your school and district in press articles and at D.C. Declaration of Learning events
3rd-12th grade teachers of English language arts, social studies, art, school librarians, ESL / ELL, GT, and SPED are encouraged to apply. Lessons developed through the year-long D.C. Declaration of Learning program may be shared with educators across the country through the national website.
Applications are due by 11:59 PM on Sunday, February 2, 2020.

Principal St. Mary School - Bryantown MD
St. Mary School in Bryantown, MD is seeking a spiritual and educational leader for grades Pre-K-8 for the 2020-21 school year. St. Mary’s School adheres to the philosophy provided by the Archdiocese of Washington, which provides guidance on several aspects of the educational program. Perhaps more importantly a summary of St. Mary’s mission statement includes: a call to teach the message of Jesus Christ; the promotion of the self-esteem, moral and spiritual values of students; the creation of a strong Christian community within the parish; and the provision of an excellent educational program that empowers children to achieve their potential and impact the local and global community.
Principals in the Archdiocese of Washington shall be practicing Catholics who uphold the teaching of the faith and are committed to Catholic education that is academically excellent and rooted in Gospel values. Qualified candidates for St. Mary School should be a certified catechist or demonstrate continuing progress towards attaining catechist certification in no more than three (3) years after date of hire and hold a Master's degree from an accredited institution in educational administration, curriculum development or an approved related educational field, They also will possess or be eligible for a Maryland, Virginia or District of Columbia educational administration certification and have a minimum of five (5) years of instructional experience, preferably in Catholic schools.

C-Span Summer Job
Are you considering professional development opportunities for next summer? The application process for C-SPAN's Summer Teacher Fellowship is now open.
C-SPAN's Fellowship program is for educators who have experience using C-SPAN's programming in the classroom and can demonstrate innovative methods of incorporating those programs into educational experiences.
For four weeks in July 2020, Fellowship recipients will collaborate with C-SPAN's education team at our offices in Washington, DC to develop new teaching materials using C-SPAN resources. Each Fellow receives a stipend of $7,000 to cover housing, travel and living expenses. Fellows also participate in C-SPAN's Summer Educators' Conferences where they share their ideas and experiences using C-SPAN's programs with conference attendees.

Applications must be received by Friday, March 13, 2020.
Application Requirements
All candidates must be:
- A member of C-SPAN Classroom
- A state certified middle or high school teacher of U.S. History, Civics, Government or related curriculum
- Experienced with integrating C-SPAN's programming and resources into educational curriculum
- Available for four consecutive weeks from July 6 through July 31, 2020
The application for the Summer Educators' Conference will be available in January 2020.
