The LBHS Prom will be April 29th at the Hotel Roanoke from 7-11pm.

Men's Warehouse Prom Discount
LBHS is partnering with Men's Wearhouse for prom this year. They are offering discounts for our students. Check out the offers below and be sure to mention our school when you rent or purchase your prom look from their store. We will receive a referral bonus to support the prom!
After Prom
The After Prom Committee needs your help to make the after prom party a success. After prom is a great way for kids to celebrate and have fun with their friends in a safe environment.
We will have food, inflatables, karaoke, cornhole, great prizes and gift cards to win, etc.
There are many ways to help! Please review the available slots and please sign up now. If you are unable to stay for the entire shift please let us know in the comments. If you would like to help in a different way feel free to text us at 540-206-7714. Thank you very much for your help!
BCPS Career Summit
BCPS Career Summit will be held at the Bonsack Community Life Center for all BCPS Seniors (Class of 2023) on April 20 from 9:30 AM to 2:15 PM. An informational meeting will be held with all senior students on April 11 to discuss details and provide permission forms.
Radium Girls - April 21-22
The LBHS Drama Troupe - The Cavalier Cavaliers - Will be performing the full-length play, Radium Girls, by D.W. Gregory on April 21 and 22.
It is based on a true story from the 1920s depicting female factory workers tragically poisoned by radium-based paint and the ensuing cover-up and court case that followed.
April 21st @ 6:30pm & April 22nd @ 2pm. Tickets will be available in advance on Ticket Spicket for $5, also available at the door, Cash Only for $7.
The students are working very hard on this production and will have a wonderful performance ready for you.
National Honor Society Induction
The 2023 NHS Induction Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 10 at 7:00 pm in the LBHS auditorium. All new members are expected to attend. Family members are invited to join us for the ceremony and light refreshments immediately following the ceremony.
NHS applicants will be notified about acceptance on April 6. Letters will be passed out with information about dues and the Induction Ceremony. Please see Ms. Eversole or Mrs. Muterspaugh with any questions.
Botetourt Youth Extravaganza
Botetourt County Public Schools and the Botetourt YMCA are hosting a Botetourt Youth Extravaganza at the YMCA on Saturday, April 15 from 10 am to 1 pm - rain date is Saturday, April 22nd
Learners Permit Test at LBHS
LBHS will be offering the DMV Learners Permit Knowledge Test for all eligible students who are ages 15 and 6 months and older. Tests will be offered during the school day on April 6 and April 27. Registration will begin on March 20, students will need to see Mrs. Underwood (or their current Driver's Ed teacher) to sign up and receive the forms for the test. Essay Contest/$500 Scholarship Opportunity
The Virginia School Boards Association is holding a personal essay/speaking contest where the finalists will have an opportunity to present before an audience of more than 300 school board members and administrators at the 2023 VSBA Conference on Education held at the Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa at Short Pump on July 13, 2023.
This year's topic is The Meaning of Civility.
Thanks to a generous donation from an anonymous sponsor, the top finalist will receive a $500 scholarship. Submissions are open to all Virginia public high school students (grades 9-12) as a great opportunity to share their unique voices as well as compete for funds to further their education.
Yearbook Information
You can order a yearbook online at www.yearbooksonsale.com for $70 for the remainder of the school year or until sold out. Make sure to order your yearbook early if you plan on
getting one.
Attendance Information
Parents, anyone checking out a student will be asked to show identification at the school's intercom by the front door. Please make sure to have your ID ready to show our office staff when you arrive. Thank you for helping keep our students safe!
Avoid a Denied Credit on your Report Card. Second Semester Attendance Waiver Applications are due to the LBHS Attendance Office for any student who has missed more than 8 days in any class/ block for Semester 2.

Connect LIVE with a certified tutor, seven days a week between 2 and 11 pm, for assistance with assignments, research and writing. You can also find practice tests, study plans, and more. Tutoring is available in English and Spanish.

Athletics
To participate in open gyms, fields, conditioning, or practice, each athlete must submit a new VHSL physical form dated after 5/1/2022. Physicals must be on file with the athletic director.

May 18: Senior Class Walks (Please meet in front of the elementary school you attended. Wear your cap and gown!)
May 21: Baccalaureate Service at Bonsack Baptist Church at 4:00 PM (Bring lawn chairs for this service)
May 22: Graduation at the Salem Civic Center
May 23: Attendance Waiver Application Deadline for all underclass students. Applications should be submitted to the school attendance office.
