What We're About

The Saint Elizabeth's Episcopal Church Youth Group is a fun and energetic group of kids who enjoy playing games, talking about important (and sometimes not so important) topics, sharing ideas, exploring questions, and having fun experiences together.

The Story

This year our church will be reading The Story which is a chronological story of the bible. All age groups will be participating at their appropriate level which means the youth have a dedicated version of the book. The Story can be purchased for $10 after church in the Narthex. Payment options are available, if needed, so please let someone know if this is not in your budget right now.

We're all very excited to begin this journey and hope your middle school or high school aged child would join us.

Yours,

The Youth Group Leadership Team

Our Monthly Outreach Project

Sunday, September 18th, we went to the Hays County food bank in San Marcos for one of our monthly outreach mission trips. We met in the St. Liz parking lot, ate a quick lunch and then head to the warehouse to do some stocking.

We were at the facility from 1p until 3p. We accomplished a bunch and helped out thousands of people by sorting food and getting it ready for distribution.

Who, What, When, Where?

Some happenings and going's on...

We get together right after church on almost every Sunday and enjoy games and lunch together, followed by a discussion or activity.

This year a dream is coming true at Saint Elizabeth - we will have a dedicated youth confirmation class this fall. Confirmation is one of the Rites of Renewal. At confirmation, baptismal promises are "confirmed" and the Bishop lays apostolic hands on the head of the "confirmand", invoking the gift of the Holy Spirit. Often (but not always) a young person, the confirmand takes personal ownership of promises made in baptism, which for many happened in infancy or childhood. It's an exciting time and one we celebrate with great fanfare and feasting! Confirmation is held once a year, on the occasion of the Bishop's annual visit to the congregation.

To prepare, youth candidates will attend Confirmation Class, led by Laura Lozano, Kevin Hammond, and Pastor Jennifer. Confirmation Class will begin on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 9 am in the Mission Hall. (We'll wrap each class up at 10 am so that participants in the worship service can be ready.) The classes will continue into mid November.

Confirmation Sunday will be November 20, with a celebratory dinner the evening before for the confirmands and their parents.

Please let Kevin Hammond know by August 15 if your son or daughter will be joining us in this adventure in discipleship this fall.
