Panther Press
Week of April 20th
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22nd is ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT's DAY! Thank you Mary & Norma YOU ARE AMAZING!
To all our awesome parents turned teachers! We appreciate you! :o)
OUR PARADE WAS PERFECT!
THANK YOU TO ALL THE FAMILIES FOR THE LOVE!
IT WAS SO GOOD TO SEE YOUR FACES!
Notes from Ms. Bazz
By now I am assuming everyone has heard the bad news. We won't be returning to end the year together as a Pershing Family like we had hoped. This saddens all of our staff as much as it does our students and families I am sure. The good news is, that we have terrific teachers that want the best for their students and will continue to plan and engage students in all the learning they need. Knowing this school year will be finished remotely means we need to work together to ensure our students keep learning and don't let up. Now more than ever, creating a schedule with your children is important. I found it helps me a lot too! When children know what to expect from their day, the day goes much smoother. Let your students' teacher or myself know if you need any help creating a schedule for your children. We are happy to help. Most teachers in the building count on each other to help make schedules for the year, so there is no shame in asking for help.
Just a quick reminder specifically for our students in 3rd-5th grades...your students really should not need you sitting right next to them as they do their work. Even our youngest learners are very capable little beings. Sometimes when there is someone right next to them during every assignment they complete, it is automatic that they ask for help, instead of trying to problem solve and really dive into that productive struggle. The productive struggle part of the lesson is where learning takes place. There is no need for parents to do any od the work for their students either.
Another reminder, the teachers will continue taking attendance Monday-Friday. This means students MUST be interacting with their teacher and/or the work being assigned. Teachers need to be able to see students working on different apps or docs. As always, if you have a question outside of teachers' "on-call" scheduled times, you can ALWAYS email the teacher your questions or concerns. They will get back to you during the following days "on-call" hour. The expectation is that students are following their classroom plan for the day. Don't forget to add in breaks!
Read Alouds are still happening every day at 9am on ZOOM if you want to participate. Simply click on the READ ALOUD link below everyday at 9am and join. We still need everyone to stay safe and responsible while on-line. Just like during the regular school year, students should NOT be in other rooms on their iPads. All iPad use should be happening while a parent/adult is in the room. Keeping our students safe is still and always will be our # 1 concern, so we need your help.
Remember, reading is ALWAYS a good choice. Reading aloud, Reading with a sibling, Reading to a pet, Reading in a homemade fort, flashlight Reading... any type of READING will help. Please don't stop READING. Talking and writing about your reading will extend your students learning, we promise. As far as reading goes for our littles, practicing letter sounds and formation and practicing sight words would be incredibly beneficial. Drawing pictures about what they read or listen to, and making predictions about what will happen in stories will keep our students sharp.
Just to reiterate, meals for this week will be handed out at Pershing on Monday (04/20) and Wednesday (04/22) from 9:00-12:30. You can pick up breakfast & lunch on Monday for both Mon. and Tues. Then on Wednesday you can pick up breakfast & lunch for Wed. Thurs. & Friday. Meals will also be available for pick up at FMS on Friday (04/24) from 9:00-12:30.
Please feel free to email me or your child's teacher if you have any problems at all.
Take care of one another and stay healthy!
Love~

Notas de Sra. Bazz
Amor~
