William The Conqueror

Biography

William I was born in the year 1027 in Falaise in Normandy France.  His father Robert I was the Duke of Normandy at the time. In the year 1066, he invaded England and on Christmas of that same year, he was crowned the king of England. He was a well organized person and was able to maintain control for quite awhile. He died on September 9,1087.

Moments and Importance

William I who later on became known as WIlliam the conqueror was able to accomplish many things such as his win over king Harold in the battle of Hastings on October 14,1066. His creation of the doomsday book which was a record of all property holders in England and how much property they owned. Not only that but, he organized new territory for England.

Joan Of Arc

Biography

Joan of Arc nicknamed Maid of Orleans was born in the year 1412 in Domremy France. At the age of 13 she started to have divine visions. This was why she thought she was destined to save France from the English. She was very hard working and was really involved in the mant conflicts between the French and the English. She died in the year 1431 after she was captured by the English and burned at the stake.

Moments and Importance

Joan had many memorable moments and played a very significant role in the many conflicts she was involved in like when she lead the French army to victory in the battle of orleans which lead to a new king being crowned. However she also failed at times like when she failed to take Paris in 1429. Soon after she was captured. Even afteer being captured she still remained strong stating that she would rather die than be chained. Nonetheless she was still a pretty important person and she truly believed she was destined to save the French and worked hard to try to make that possible which is why we should care.
