Students that have one foot in both worlds
Our internship class has given her field experience--an opportunity that has allowed her to see deliveries, c-sections, circumcisions and radiology work done on newborns. She has also had the opportunity to answer the phone, give a baby her first bath, assist a mother while she gave birth, and put monitors on a patient.
Chelsea said "This internship really has opened my eyes to see if I want to further my education in nursing. Not only have I experienced so much, I have also developed close relationships with the nurses and doctors at the hospital. I am so thankful that my school offers the internship class because it allowed me to truly see if nursing is the career I want to pursue."
Chelsea will be attending University of Southern Indiana in the fall and will be studying Nursing.
Kyle Shields is headed to Washington, D.C.
Kyle Shields was honored on Thursday morning at a breakfast hosted by REMC. He was selected for the 2017 Indiana Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. where he will join more than 1,500 other juniors representing 44 states.
This trip is an opportunity for students to study American history and see our government in action. The trip will include a visit to Gettysburg, tours of monuments and museums. There will be meeting on Capitol Hill with Indiana Congressional representatives.
The group will participate in the National Youth Tour Rally Day. We look forward to hearing about the trip when Kyle returns this Fall.
Congressman Trey Hollingsworth visits Scottsburg High School
He spent time in classes at both High Schools That Work and New Tech. He was impressed that a high school offers so many opportunities for students on one campus. The partnerships that we have with MidAmerica Science Park, our community and local colleges were highlighted.
