Howell Tennis News
March 31st-April 6th
Lots of Matches This Week :)
Well, the weather washed out our second match, but thankfully our first match had beautiful weather and a good outcome. I thought we came out with a little bit of nerves, but we played hard at got the 7-2 Match Win! We also had to shift our lineup around to accommodate the absence of our #2 Noah Schultz who did a fantastic job at the HOSA Competition (he will be heading to Nationals this summer with his team)!
JV ended up tied at 5-5, but I am expecting them to gain more confidence with every match from this group. Coach Howard and I have really been stressing the fundamentals at practice and although it isn't their favorite thing to do, I see lots of strategic improvements already. Not only that, the team has spoken and nominated their Captains this week and I know with Lord Sudeep and Sir Trace with lead the JV members in the right direction.
Our Varsity Captains were also decided and they include Zach Big-Z Behlmann and the Dukes of Schultz, Noah & Jaden. The team felt very strong about these individuals and each one of them is a great role model in a different way. The attitude and desire to work hard and compete is contagious from these 3, which made them a great choice for this role.
We have our Cancer Match on Tuesday and if any parents could donate an 'orange themed' item to our bake sale to collect more profits to benefit cancer research that would be awesome. Just a dozen items and it can be homemade or store bought. When I say orange I mean in color or flavor if you want! Orange is the color of leukemia. Let me know through the email link if you have questions!
Lastly, I got to talk to some new parents at the first match and it was great to meet you! I apologize if I don't always see you or talk for long, but I want to make sure I catch the boys in between games if they need some advice or guidance during the match! Please feel free to approach me anytime (even if I seem busy) especially if we haven't met yet! I may not be able to chat long, but at least I will get to know your face :) Looking forward to a great week!
