Math & Science

Way to rock on the STAAR test! Students did an excellent job of trying their best and sitting quietly while others were finishing the test! Nice!!

Thursday we watched a documentary, "Deep Blue"...check out the link below. They were also given a student guide to complete. It really helped the students comprehend how an ocean ecosystem works and how delicate the balance as it relates to food webs, etc.

In science, will be learning interactions in nature and finishing up our carbon dioxide and oxygen cycles. Ask your children about the Elodea plant as it relates to the exchange of gasses.

Next week we will learn about inherited traits and learned traits and complete and incomplete metamorphosis of insects.

Math

Although we have taken the Math STAAR, we still have skills to learn getting ready for 6th grade! This week and next, your children are problem-solving about creating an aquarium with fresh-water fish. They have been given a chart and must include a variety of fish from the chart. The students seem to be enjoying this assignment.

Reading & Social Studies

In Language Arts, we will be focusing on writing and researching. We will begin our discussion of creating book fun reports.

In Social Studies, we will be starting our new learning with the diverse peoples of the west during the 19 century. We will have fun creating dramatizations about these differing groups of people!

Requested Supplies

Please help restock our classroom supplies, Mrs. Purvis' room needs hand sanitizer. Mrs. Brown needs pencils badly!!!

Homework

*Please encourage your child to work on Think Through Math and Reflex (if they have an account) throughout the week and over the weekend.
