Dean's Den
Quarter one has come to an end and I could not be prouder of the students and staff at Discovery Elementary. They all have set and maintained expectation for themselves. As a school, we celebrated filling our trailblazer bucket with two positive behavior incentive rewards. In addition to individual classrooms highlighting areas of achievement.
As we move into Quarter two, I am encouraging everyone to remember our 3 R’s, respectful, responsible, and ready to learn. Placing these characteristics at the forefront will ensure all trailblazers and staff experience successful days. Additionally, I charge everyone to spread kindness around like confetti especially during the upcoming months. While many have high spirits and are excited to see the weather change and celebrate different occasions, some view this time as a remembrance of life’s changes and shortages. Please take every opportunity given to show kindness and share happiness. Feel free to volunteer or donate items to the following locations, my husband and I donate our time at these places:
- Dulles South Food Pantry 703-507-2795
- Women Giving Back 703-554-9386
- Loudoun Salvation Army 703-771-8905
At Discovery, we are sharing the love and joy by gathering non-perishable groceries. Classrooms are adopting anonymous families and in the upcoming weeks we will collect items to donate for families to open gifts for the Holiday. Please contribute in anyway possible, no gift is too small. I truly believe that philanthropy is a learned skill set and at Discovery we cease every opportunity to teach our trailblazers.
As we embark on phase two of our journey, think of ways to help display or contribute to the 3 R’s, kindness, and happiness. Until the next Dean's Den remember to be kinder than necessary because everyone is going through something and to have a great day on purpose!
