FOURTH GRADE PARENTS NEEDED

Without more volunteers, we can't complete the 4th grade Literacy DVD recordings next week. Parent volunteer sign up is here.

It is a simple process and detailed instructions are provided.

Please consider taking a slot - just a couple of hours or less (8:45 - 10 or 10:40 - 11:45 or 12:35 - 3:10) - to insure that you and your child will have this precious keepsake to treasure when they leave Vernfield next year.

If you need more information, contact Nora Shurtz at nshurtz@comcast.net

Prime Time Reading - Grades K-2

Prime Time Reading is NEXT FRIDAY, 2/8 from 6-8 pm. This is a fun night for kids in Grades K-2 and their accompanying parent/adult. There are Teacher-performed skits, games a la Mr. Gross, and lots of reading-based fun! If you haven't already signed up, please do so (online here: http://bit.ly/ptr2019) by Wednesday 2/6 so that the committee can have an accurate head count. Questions to Katie Ross at 215-260-4476 or kqaross@yahoo.com. Hope to see you there!

Extreme Energy Assembly

Last Friday, students were treated to an Extreme Energy Assembly funded by the HSA. They learned about various forms of energy and watched them in action. A Vernfield student's energy powered a lightbulb, light energy popped a balloon, heat energy floated a plastic bag all the way to the ceiling and water caused an explosion. Of course, it wasn't as simple as it sounds and, besides the explosion, of course, the kids were especially impressed by the thermal images of their own body heat.

Candy Bar Bingo Was Sweet!

Thanks to all of you who came out for Family Fun Night last week. We had lots of families playing and lots of happy winners.

Thanks, also, to all of the teachers and Dr. Graf who made the evening fun as our Bingo Callers. And special thanks to Caitlyn Seigfried and Autumn Wright and their families who organized the event.
