TATEM'S OPEN HOUSE
We have spent our time reviewing GRAPHIC AND TEXT FEATURES. We reminded ourselves that authors use many different ways to inform the reader. The use of these features are mostly seen in Nonfiction texts. We reexamined ASKING QUESTIONS and SUMMARIZING while reading.
Verbs, verbs, and more verbs have been reviewed and extended. We discussed BEING VERBS as well as IRREGULAR VERBS.
Our vocabulary strategies have included another look at PREFIXES and CATEGORIZE AND CLASSIFY.
UNIT 7:We extended our learning of multiplication. We learned how to multiply by 10s, 100s, 1,000s easily. We will use this knowledge when we dive into Unit 9 in the very near future. They did a very good job conceptually and continue to be strong during Mental Math. However, we are still in need of FACT POWER of the MULTIPLICATION FACTS. It's imperative they know the facts because will be moving into two digit by two digit multiplication at the end of next week.
We have reexamined our knowledge of fractions. The unit began will basic fraction concepts. This unit has allowed us to have a hands-on approach to investigate equivalent fractions. We have a strong understanding but will continue to review fractions the rest of the year. Please ask your child what a MIXED FRACTION is.
