Principal's Den
I hope you are all healthy and doing well. This Monday we honor the memory and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. May this day serve as one of reflection on what we each can do to make our world a more just place. May it also serve as a call to action moving forward.
This week our students are working on their benchmark tests including ESGI and STAR Reading and Math. We are also preparing our Emerging Bilingual students to take the ELPAC exam. Please make sure to check your students' planner or calendar each day to find out what they are working on at school and what assignments they need to complete. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to your child's teacher and schedule a meeting if necessary.
This coming Saturday we are hosting our Saturday Academy from 8:30-12:30. Attendance of Saturday Academy helps clear one absence. It is also a half day filled with hands-on STEAM activities that our students really seem to enjoy.
Congratulations to our Cloverdale Spelling Bee winner, Nathan Cunamay, for placing 2nd during our District Spelling Bee! He did an outstanding job and we are very proud of him. Shoutout to Ms. Willett and Ms. Crump for all of their work and support.
Thank you for your support in keeping all of our kids safe. This includes respecting school zone speed limits and looking out for our pedestrians. I appreciate you for helping students cross the street and for your patience during drop-off and pick-up. Now that we have our TK also dismissing at 2:05pm we have more vehicles and traffic during pick-up. Please plan accordingly. We are trying our best to supervise our students during dismissal. Thank you for your understanding and for giving yourself enough time during after school pick-up.
Thank you all for your continued support. Together we will work to make this the best school year for our lions! LEADERS BY EXAMPLE!!
Thank you,
At Cloverdale we strive to be Leaders by Example. As I mention to our students during announcements, this means that we always try to do the right thing even when no one is looking.
As part of our school's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS), we also learn to ROAR. This is a matrix that exemplifies our core values of being Respectful, Organized, Accountable, and Responsible.
Our goal is to be college ready once we graduate from High School and that starts today!
Sincerely,
Genaro García
Principal
