PBS lesson - Responding Appropriately to Adults
Our lesson this week is focused on Responding Appropriately to Adults. There are slides for daily lessons and to remind you to include your Second Steps lessons which will be on Empathy - Feelings.
Are you remembering to recognize students with positive feedback and Charger Cash for demonstrating the PBS skill of the week and practicing the Second Step skill?
"You are a giant, yellow highlighter. Highlight behavior you want more of, and help children become aware of the many kind and helpful things they do each day."
Conscious Discipline - Going Conscious Not Crazy
This week I have included only 1 video. It is a powerful one that illustrates, through role playing, the various ways we might respond to students in elevated states. As you watch, try to reflect on which you fall to as your "norm". Are you saving? dismissing? ignore? coach?
It is a 10 minute video that is worth EVERY SECOND!
"Children cannot develop healthy self-regulatory skills unless they see adults consistently addressing their emotions in healthy ways."

“Catching the Vision of Math Workshop”
“Imagine a classroom…where all students have access to high-quality, engaging mathematics instruction. There are ambitious expectations for all, with accommodations for those who need it…. The curriculum is mathematically rich, offering students opportunities to learn important mathematical concepts, skills and procedures with understanding. Teachers support students making, refining, and exploring conjectures on the basis of evidence and use a variety of reasoning and proof techniques to confirm or disprove those conjectures. Students are flexible and resourceful problem solvers. Alone or in groups and with access to technology, they work productively and reflectively, with the skilled guidance of their teachers. Orally and in writing, students communicate their ideas and results effectively. They value mathematics and engage actively in learning it.”
