BUILD A COLLABORATION ACTION PLAN WITH THE AASL NATIONAL SCHOOL LIBRARY STANDARDS
Mary Kay Biagini, Deb Kachel, Cindy Keller, and Nancy Latanision for in-depth working session to build and strengthen your collaboration with teachers in specific grade levels through aligning the American Association of School Librarians National School Library Standards with the PA Core Standards, as well as with new ISTE and Future Ready Librarians standards with curricular areas. Since July 2018, we four have conducted 23 sessions across PA to introduce the AASL Standards to 600+ librarians, and now we’re ready to help you create an action plan for collaborating with teachers to promote information and digital literacy across the curriculum for all learners, both students and teachers. These aligned Standards provide a solid foundation for developing student competencies in information fluency and have credibility with administrators and teachers. Whatever your situation—one school or multiple schools, solo in your district, fresh from the classroom, assuming new teaching responsibilities—you’ll take away an action plan to tackle how to collaborate effectively with teachers to help your learners. You’ll work collaboratively in small groups by school levels to transform your learning plans into sustainable partnerships with teachers to build information literacy competencies in learners. Bring your most successful information literacy lesson plan and learn how to align it with these standards and transform the way you collaborate with your teachers.
