Frederick Douglass
He taught himself to read and write, he was an escaped slave and speaker for abolitionists, he also wrote his autobiography and a newspaper called the North Star, he is Frederick Douglass!
Harriet Tubman
She was a conductor of the underground railroad, was called the Moses of her people, and helped 300 slaves escape, she is Harriet Tubman!
Harriet Beecher Stowe
She wrote Uncle Tom's Cabin, she is Harriet Beecher Stowe!
John Brown
Last and certainly least, (mostly cause he led a raid though Kansas) John Brown!
These 6 people were important to our country because they were abolitionists who we honor today. Please take some time to think about how these people risked there lives to speak against slavery. Their hard work paid off and slavery was removed. Thanks for reading!
