Instructional Focus:
During break, take the time to unplug and spend intentional time with your family and friends.
Check out the following very brief views that detail how important it is to establish efficient routines and procedures below.
Upcoming PD's...
On January 22, K, 1, 2, 3 will have a half day PD about "Station Rotations" and setting up a meaningful instructional structure to make it easier to meet with small groups of students.
On January 27, 4, 5, 6 will have a whole day PD Station Rotations (same as above) and the second half of the day will be a writing structure called "Write to Learn."
Week of January 6....
On this first week back, we have an opportunity to "set the course" for the rest of the school year. I would love to see us use this first week to hit pause before jumping into curriculum. Set your procedures (practice and model each of them until perfect), expectations and re-establish a relationship with each of your students during that first week back. Take some time to teach some of those Sanford Harmony Goals.
We will make up the academic time later by having well established routines and procedures.
Harry Wong has always been seen as the guru in setting these routines. Check out the pictures at the bottom of the page, as a reminder of the importance of establishing routines at the start of the year/semester.
Jingle Jog Stations....
While walking, we have identified a number of locations that we feel will need to have an adult presence. If you are a non-homeroom teacher, please see the following spreadsheet for where to report, and what your duty will consist of.
Thanks in advance for your help!
These are mostly non-homeroom teachers; please highlight your name when you have seen your station. I added many maps from Google Earth to try and show where I want you.

Lockdown Code....
Please see Sonja ASAP to get the sticker with directions. We are asking that these get attached to the back of your badge so that you will have quick access no matter where you are. Additionally, the system is 100% automated, so after you hit the last number, it will give the lockdown speech automatically, no need to remember a script.
We thought it would be safer to go on our badge, rather than the phones where a student might not realize the severity.
MOY ATI results...
Here's a couple reminders:
- Remember that when looking at BOY it is often a more relevant measure of the following grade's instruction then your's since it's taken so early in the year. For example, if you are looking at the first grade ATI BOY assessment, the data is a better indication of the kindergarten team, since it's taken so early in the year.
- When talking about socio-economic status, Meridian, Val Vista, and Towne Meadows are our closest comparisons.
