There are 282 cities in Florida! The 4 largest cities in Florida are Miami, Tampa Bay, Jacksonville, and Orlando. There are 19,900,000 people living in Florida.

The 3 NFL Football teams in Florida are Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Miami Dolphins are the only team in NFL history to go undefeated, winning the 1973 Super Bowl.

There are also 2 NBA teams, 2 NHL teams, and 2 MLB teams. There are so many really good golf players in Florida like Tiger Woods, Luke Donald, Rickie Fowler, and Bubba Watson.

There are also many colleges in Florida that compete in college sports. The University of Florida won the NCAA men's basketball championship in 2006 and 2007, coached by Billy Donovan from Providence College.

Some other cool facts about Florida

Florida recently passed NY state in population and is now the third largest state by population, trailing only California and Texas.

The longest river completely within Florida is the St. John's river. The Chattahoochee River within Florida comes from the north where it partially forms the border between Georgia and Alabama.

Britton Hill is the highest location in Florida--345 feet above sea level. This is the lowest high point among all of the States. Florida is very flat!

There are 1350 miles of coastline in Florida, second only to Alaska.

Lake Okeechobee is the largest lake in Florida.
