Learning Targets

NP3 Middle worked on creating or revising learning targets for student learning last week! Great progress was made with each team! Way to go Pirates! As you finish up the year, consider how your team will complete the remaining learning targets and integrate them with each lesson and learning experience.

NP3 teachers have consistently shared targets with their students by telling, showing and engaging students in understanding and by students demonstrating knowledge by their performance. Targets are effective and meangingful to student learning when used to communicate learning throughout a lesson and assessed for understanding. "...a target becomes a learning target only when students use it to aim for understanding throughout today's lesson, and students can aim for a target only when they know what it is."

-pg. 2 Learning Targets

Check out some of your learning targets below and consider if the targets describe lesson-sized chunks of skills or concepts and how students will know if they can demonstrate it. Keep it up Pirates! Arrrrgh Matey.

NP3 Announcements Mateys!

For Teachers Only:

  • Students Moving Classes: Infinite Campus does not save scores/grades for a student that moves between classes. This means that if a student is to be moved, you will be notified (most likely by a counselor or Sharon Maccini), and you will need to print whatever information is needed for documented scores in the new class.

  • Work Orders: If you have a facility issue and need it to be addressed, please communicate the issue with Shawn McGuire. Shawn will enter all work orders on our behalf. Please do not enter work orders.

  • State Testing: NP3 test window begins in a few weeks. There will be time in PD to practice this, however, for eager Pirates, you can check your TOMS log-in by going to http://www.caaspp.org/, click the green TOMS button, and enter your email and password.

  • Volunteer Panel Member: NP3 High School Senior Project Boards are a culmination of seniors’ year-long senior project, which is a graduation requirement and a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase themselves and their work to the greater community. They take place Tues April 19, Wed, April 20, and Thurs April 21 from 5:30pm - 8:00pm on campus. Seniors will need panelists to watch and evaluate Senior Project presentations. If interested, please email Stephanie Brightwell with the date(s) you are available.

  • 6th Celebration: The next one is on April 22 and will also be a Sci Camp pre-meeting for students.
