Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary
You who own the faith of Jesus,
sing the wonders that were done
when the love of God the Father
over sin the victory won,
when he made the Virgin Mary
mother of his only Son.
Dear Parents and Staff
As we move into the last few weeks of the school year, whilst we remain firmly focussed upon ensuring that all children have a great end to this year, some of our focus is upon planning for the year ahead. A significant component of this is the development and preparation of our Year Five students as they move towards student leadership in their final year at our school. Whilst only eight students are officially elected Student Leaders, there are many opportunities for all to excel whether as a Library Monitor, Faction Captain or within Council groups. Each year I am amazed by the growth of the students, both physically and emotionally, during their final year of Primary education. Some of these have served in elected leadership positions but, often, many others, whose talents shine through, are happy to not seek the limelight, but, rather, to influence and serve from within the group. Their contribution is at least as valuable as that of the elected few. Next Monday, 22 November, our current Student Leaders will lead the Year Five students in a day of activities designed to inform and prepare them for the year ahead. I wish them all a great day of learning and look forward to enjoying the leadership journey with them in 2022.
4YO KINDERGARTEN LITURGY
What a delight it was to be invited to join with the Kindy children yesterday morning for their Liturgy of the Word. In his Homily, Fr Quynh spoke about the need to be thankful for all that we receive, and I am truly thankful for being able to share such a special time with the children. I especially loved the “Thank You Lord” song where they thanked God for all of the animals that He created.
I look forward to joining with the Pre-Primary classes for their Liturgy on 1 December at 10.00am.
ANNUAL COMMUNITY MEETING
The Annual Community Meeting (ACM) for both the School Advisory Council and the Parents’ and Friends’ Association will be held in the school library next Tuesday at 6.00pm. I hope many parents will be able to attend to hear of the great achievements that each of these groups have made this year.

This will take place on Friday 3 December between recess and lunch time. The Class lists and Teaching staff will be posted on the school website from 4.00pm on Thursday 2 December.

Prayer
Last week we all participated in a beautiful prayer liturgy. We spoke with Father Quynh about the different ways we can talk to God and we all shared the prayer that God gave us, The Our Father. In Year One we love singing and we are sure many of the children’s favourite part was singing the song Ask, Seek, Knock which reminds us that when you ask, He cares; when you seek He’s there; when you knock, God opens up the door – we are never alone so all we need to do is pray!
Excursion
We recently visited Chevron Playground and Matagurup Bridge as part of learning about our local community and the Aboriginal seasons. We investigated the seasons, walked over the bridge, which for many of us was a first, and attempted to sketch the bridge. We enjoyed playing on the amazing playgrounds too!
Incursion
- Last week we enjoyed a Y-safe incursion. We learnt two important facts. Only talk to people online if you know their first and last name, have meet them in person and your parents know them and
- Don’t ever give out your personal private information. This is information like your address, phone number and full name.
Maths
This week we are learning all about time. We can now tell the time to half past and o’clock on both a digital and analogue clock. You could help us with this at home by talking to us about time and asking us to tell you the time.
We cannot believe that our first year in big school uniform is almost coming to a close. We have had so much fun!

Well done to Leah (6P) who recently took part in the State SunSmart WA Endurance Championships. Leah has been training very hard recently and had a great result, coming in 5th place overall in the combined swimming, board and running legs. Leah is also currently the state champion in the swimming leg of the endurance races. Great work, Leah!
Regional School Cup Cricket Blast Finals - Yokine Reserve
Last Thursday, some of our Year 6 boys took part in the Regional Cricket Finals held at Yokine Reserve. Our Boys team took out the Interschool Cricket Carnival in term 1 against our Interschool Cluster so were selected for the next stage at the Regional Finals. The boys were full of excitement and we were blessed with fantastic weather all day.
The boys showed great determination the whole day and held their own against some very impressive teams. Our division ended up having 2 teams going through to the state finals being held at the famous WACA ground. Notre Dame wasn’t one of them but provided some fantastic highlights for the parents and guardians who came to watch. My deck chair also got a much needed workout for the day :). We ended up with 1 win and 3 losses for the day, great work boys and many thanks to the WACA staff and Belridge SHS students who helped organise and run the day so smoothly. There are plenty of great options available for cricket at the moment so please have a look at the flyer below for Ascot cricket club or go to Play Cricket for details about other clubs and programs around your area.
It's not too late for year 4 & 5 girls to join Ascot Eagles U11 Girls Cricket Team!
Why not try something new this summer?
Playing Saturday mornings 8:30-10:45am during school term 4 and term 1.
Training Wednesday afternoons 4:30-6pm at Middleton Park Cloverdale.
We have a very friendly team of girls who look forward to welcoming your daughter.

If you would like to join our volunteer pool please come and see me in the canteen on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Even if you are only able to give half an hour of your time, every bit helps.
Hope to see you at the canteen soon.

Time flies when we are having fun, doesn’t it? It feels just like a blink of the eye but it’s actually halfway through Term 4 already! Over the past two weeks at OSHC, we strived to cater to children’s interests and strengths in our programming.
What a crowd Ryan and his Batman fave have attracted!
Jayden and his friends were exposed to Sudoku for the first time. They found it such an exciting challenge for their logical thinking.
Who doesn’t like Bluey? Let’s make an ears hat to wear so we look just like Bluey and her friends.
Who wouldn’t like their windows decorated with the lovely stained ‘glass’ that was made from coloured cards?
These floppy mats are new but very well accepted by OSHC children from all age groups. They can be written or drawn on with whiteboard makers and be cleaned with a wet wipe. Simple as!
For the Remembrance Day, we made red poppy flowers with paper and pipe cleaners.
Last but not least, OSHC will closed on the following dates during the holiday season. It’s important to plan your bookings ahead to avoid confusion and unwanted stress.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUB
The catalogue for the Book Club has now been distributed to each class. Due to the fact that our school closes on 10th December this does not leave a lot of time to organize the orders, to ensure that the children receive their books. Therefore the close of date will be 9 AM on Thursday 25 November. No orders after this time will be accepted.
Please note the following
- Books can be ordered on line through the Loop system on Scholastic.
- If you are ordering manually please ensure that the correct money is provided and the order given to the front office.
- if your child has completed the order please check that it is correct.
Many thanks for your help
