1. Statewide School Survey | Take the Survey Today!

2. Rhode Island State Survey (RISS)

The town of Bristol/Warren has received a grant from the Department of Behavioral Health, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals (BHDDH), to continue strengthening Bristol/Warren’s capacity to address youth substance abuse. A requirement of this grant is that the school collects survey information about substance use attitudes and behaviors from high /middle school students. This survey is scheduled to be administered to­­­­­ students during the 2019-2020 school year between February and June of 2020. KMS will be taking the survey March 23rd.


Please complete the permission slip attached if you DO NOT want your student to participate in the survey. The form will also be coming home with your student as well.

There will be a form coming home later this week for 8th grade families to add messages to their 8th grader in the yearbook.

4. Masquers | Rehearsal Dates

Here is the rehearsal schedule for this week:

  • Rehearsals will take place EVERY DAY THIS WEEK from 2 - 4 PM
  • CAST is expected to be here every day as we plan to begin full run-throughs, in addition to learning new songs and dances.
  • CREW must also attend daily beginning this week as we'll begin backstage training and work on costumes, props, and sets.
  • Regular attendance is VERY IMPORTANT from now on - 14 rehearsals until opening night!

The Math Tutor Program

The Math Tutor Program has begun and is held on Tuesdays. Students will meet in room 146 at 2:00PM. It is not too late to join. If interested email jane.swift@bwrsd.org.

STAAND | Students Taking Action Against Negative Decisions

STAAND meets every two weeks on Tuesdays! Next meeting: March 10th


Spring Robotics

Do you want to join the Spring Robotics Club? Come to Mrs. Wirth's room 43 on Tuesday, February 25th after school from 2-3:00. This is your chance as a beginner in Robotics to learn to build and program. Come to build fun creations. Any questions? Talk to Mrs. Wirth.


Mentoring Counts

There will be a mentoring meeting on Thursday, March 19th in room 132. If you are not able to attend please notify Ms. Ryone.

6. KMS Community Service Annual Bake-off | March 12th | 2-3PM

It's that time of year again, KMS's Community Service Annual Bake-off. The event will be held on March 12th after school in the cafeteria from 2-3. All are welcome. Last year was very successful. We will be raising money for the Good Neighbors Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry in Bristol. If you bake you will have free entry. If you want to be a judge it will be $5.00. Please consider participating! It is a great event!

7. Mt Hope Course Selection Sheets Due March 4th!

Mt Hope Students, Teachers & Counselors visited 8th Graders last week. Your child should have received a course selection sheet for 9th Grade (it is a green form. Course Selections sheets are due March 9th. Forms must be signed by Parent/Guardian.


8th Graders will have the opportunity to visit Mt Hope this Spring.


Mt Hope will be having a community presentation on March 3rd @ MHHS on next years Program of Studies.

8. "Beyond the Bag" Plastic Recycling Competition | A Win-Win-Win Situation!

UPDATE: Throughout the month of January our KMS community collected over 15 pounds of plastic. This program runs from American Recycles day in November to Earth Day in April. Thank you to all have participated and keep collecting.

10. Reminder: School Store open on Fridays during lunch!

The KMS PTO will open the school store every other Friday during lunch block! If you would like to volunteer to run the school store please reach out to Amy @ abratsos@yahoo.com

Spring Sports offered: Baseball, Softball, Boys & Girls Track, Club Lacrosse & Intramural Tennis/Volleyball


Important info:

  • All students must have be signed up on Family ID, have a RIPCOA risk form and current physical on file with the nurse in order to participate or try out.
  • Club LAX is run by the Parent Group & requires special insurance that can be purchased at USlacrosse.org. Check out LAX site for FAQ https://www.kmslax.com/
  • Baseball/Softball fields open as early as April 1st. Practices are at Colt State Park once the fields are open, from 2:30-4:30PM
  • All schedules will be on RIPCOA.Org or Mthopehuskies.com closer to the start of the season.

12. Recycle your gently used | Middle School Level | Books to the KMS Reading Dept!

The reading department is looking for donations of gently used, middle school books for our FREE BOOK display. Please drop off books in the main office or contact Melissa.Bernard@bwrsd.org or Jane.Swift@bwrsd.org about making a donation.

To better understand when and where influenza activity is occurring, to monitor influenza-related illness, outbreaks, hospitalizations, and to determine circulating and emerging influenza virus strains please contact the School Nurse if your child has the flu and/or tests positive for the flu.

16. KMS Little Free Library!

Bristol Warren Regional School District’s Mt. Hope Teacher-Librarian Laura Cabral and STEM Dept. Chair Wayne Lima created a collaborative design project for the high school students to build a Little Free Library for Kickemuit Middle School Library and Mt. Hope High School Library.


Mt. Hope Teacher Ryan Garrity oversaw the Engineering/Design Process and Mt. Hope Teacher Joe Bartoshevich oversaw the Construction/Production. Maintenance staff delivered and installed the Little Free Libraries.


The LFL near the inside near the KMS Library is from the districts pilot project and

the one outside of the building near the main entrance is a part of an Eagle Scout Project.

3. Bee Amazed at the 12th Annual Bee!

Bee Amazed at the 12th Annual Bee, hosted by BWEF and Medical Associates of Rhode Island, Inc. This year the game is changing to TRIVIA!! Check out our website for more information and to purchase tickets! The Bee will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Roger Williams University.

4. Kindergarten Registration is now open!

Kindergarten registration now open for the 2020-2021 school year. Click link for more information: https://www.bwrsd.org/Page/2849


The Bristol Warren Regional School District will begin registering age-eligible children for kindergarten. According to Rhode Island State law all children must be 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2020 to be eligible to register for kindergarten. All kindergartens are full day programs.

5. Bristol Youth Soccer Association (BYSA) Spring Sign ups!

The BYSA Spring 2020 Developmental (Recreational) Soccer Registration is open. The program is an eight-week season with the first games played on Sunday April 19th and runs through June 7th. Games are played on Sunday afternoons (no games Memorial Day weekend).
