Math
5th Grade Standards:
- Connect area diagrams and the distributive property to partial products of the standard algorithm with and without renaming.
- Fluently multiply multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm to solve multi-step word problems and using estimation to check for reasonableness of the product.
- Multiply decimal fractions by multi-digit whole numbers through conversion to a whole number problem and reasoning about the placement of the decimal.
- Reason about the product of a whole number and a decimal with hundredths using place value understanding and estimation.
- Use whole number multiplication to express equivalent measurements.
- Use decimal multiplication to express equivalent measurements.
- Solve two-step word problems involving measurement and multi-digit multiplication.
6th Grade Standards:

What Makes Me Unique – ماللذي يجعلني فريد
Students will be working on writing a paragraph about what makes each of them unique. Students will be expected to describe physical and personality attributes using a variety of appropriate adjectives. Student will be able to correctly use descriptive adjectives, subject pronouns, and nominal sentences
Students will learn about:
- Adjectives and how to correctly form nominal sentences
- Verbs and pronouns associated with daily activities
- Taa’ Marboota and gender differentiation in Arabic
- Cognates “English words of Arabic Origin”
- Comparative and Superlative forms
- Was and Will usage in singular forms “كان” and “ليس”
- Future Tense in Arabic
- Students will also discuss poetry patterns in Arabic.

Country Portfolio – ملف دولة/ قطر معين
Students will create a foreign country portfolio in which students will choose a country and write about its culture, religion, art, and food. Students then will choose one of the previous categories and write in detail about it.
Students will review:

Islamic Studies
In the third UOI, the 5th and 6th graders will be focusing entirely on the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. They will study timelines and graphic organizers which break down the Prophet Muhammad’s’ life ﷺ and they will discuss the implications and effects of what they learned on their day to day life.
Summative Assessment:
As a final assessment of their comprehension and understanding students will create PowerPoint presentations and/or YouTube videos displaying key aspects of the Prophets life.
Art
Students will continue to experiment with the elements and principal of art with more emphasis on the element of form, explore geometric sculpture and work individually and collaboratively on artworks that use space, line, and shape and connect art to geometry.

Students will demonstrate the ability to organize knowledge and ideas for expression in the production of art.
- Create images and forms from observation, memory, and imagination and feelings
- Experiment with media, processes, and techniques to convey specific thoughts and feelings.
- Create artworks that explore the uses of the elements of art and selected principles of design, such as pattern, repetition, contrast, balance, variety, and harmony/unity to express personal meaning
