A Message From the Director
Hello Dream Team,
You will only be as successful as you think you can become. The mind is a powerful tool and we must utilize it to overcome some of the inconsistencies that we may exhibit at times. If you believe you can, you can; and if you believe you can't, you won't try. This statement may move you in more ways than one, this is good because it makes you think about your own belief system. I challenge each of you to reflect on things you've said this week or actions you've taken and identify whether the outcome was what you intended for it to be, I then want you to draft what you could have done differently, and then try it when faced with a similar situation.
The Dream Team Will Fight!
Sincerely,
Andrea
I Can I Will I Must!
INSTRUCTIONAL & CULTURAL FOCUS AREAS
Instructional Focus:
Develop high quality questions: Plan your questions in advance. Students should have to explain answers, elaborate on responses, or provide information on their thought process. Be sure to plan your exemplar responses
Quickly follow up with students. The sooner you can see and act on students’ strengths and weakness, the better. If several students are making a particular error, speak directly to them about the nature of the error and how to avoid it
Don’t repeatedly write the same comment if lots of students are making the same error. Better to spend that time planning how to reteach the skill the next day.
Cultural Focus:
Our scholars need to be encouraged to continue to show gratitude or develop the skill and understand the “why”
As they mature, we want to ensure they have the skills to be polite, productive and responsible citizens.
Gratitude or being grateful is not just saying “thank you” but showing and expressing your thankfulness and appreciation to those around you.
In advisory this month, there are various discussion questions, activities, journaling and reflection to help scholars understand the “why” in being grateful
