Breaking Down Breakout EDU
Choose a Game
2. Go to www.breakoutedu.com/games and click “Search Games.”
3. Enter the password received when you signed up for an account.
a. Sandbox Games: Created by teachers and/or students. They are not yet published to the official directory, so they do not follow the published template.
b. Published Games: Vetted by the Breakout Edu team and follow the published template.
c. Class Size: Do not let class size determine if you use the game. With access to multiple boxes, easily create games for classes up to 35 or more.
Materials
Breakout Edu’s require pre-planning. Make sure to account for set up time when selecting the date to check out the boxes. Planning as a grade level builds excitement and makes set up easier.
Print clues for each box and find other materials that will enhance your game.
Game Day
2. Lock each box with appropriate locks.
3. Determine each group’s work area and place large breakout box and any other necessary materials at each station.
4. Hang and set-out print materials
5. Set up any technology that needs to be used.
Before Play
1. Introduce Breakout Edu.
2. Read Game Story and assign groups.
3. Start Timer. The time is determined by the game. Most games take 45 minutes.
During Play
1. Observe play and redirect students who get off task.
2. Provide hints to groups who are at a consensus to use a hint card.
