Several of you asked about goal setting.
You will set your goals in Eduphoria AWARE.
Login to Eduphoria, click on AWARE. In the My Evaluations tab you will see a document titled "2016 T-TESS Teacher Self-Assessment and Goal Setting." (See screenshot below.)
First you will discuss your data analysis and then you will fill in your team goal (#1) and personal goal (#2).
Please look over the documents and talk to your team and/or appraiser if you have questions.
Rollout updates for 4th and 5th from Yolanda
Learner Logins: Rollout is just around the corner! It looks like we will begin enrolling our 4th and 5th grade learner iPads during the week of September 12th! (I will give you our specific date ASAP!) Please be sure that ALL of your learners have logged in to the computer and changed their passwords for this school year.
Big Ideas:
Every learner MUST change his/her CISD password by Friday, September 9th. Click here for more information on learner logins and passwords.
Learners should have unique passwords.
Have a place for learners to record and store their CISD passwords
Process:
Big Ideas:
5th Grade: Debra and I will deliver iPads this week. Learners may begin using them immediately; however, only use them as SHARED iPads rather than attempting to login with Apple IDs. We will finish set up with them after 4th grade rollout.
4th Grade: Our rollout date will be set for the week of September 12th (specific date to come). Debra and I are working on organizing iPads, checking them out, and designing a schedule. (Please take a look at the draft schedule, and let us know if you see any issues.) Generally, we will call down one class at a time, and the process should take about 45 minutes. PLEASE have their CISD learner passwords changed and recorded in a safe place by Friday, September 9th.
Spring Creek Sign-Up
Thanks to those who have signed up to work Spring Creek night on Sept. 13. If you aren’t working, come eat!
For those of you new to Wilson, this is a fun fundraiser. We have a spirit night at Spring Creek Barbecue in Lewisville,TX. Our school gets a HUGE percentage of the monies spent that night.
If you sign up to work that night…
· Spring Creek will buy your dinner
· You will be given an apron to decorate however you like. WE will have a contest and kids will vote for the best one, you’ll win a gift card for best apron.
· Wear your apron to help take trays to their tables and possibly serve hot rolls
· Once we get our check, Spring Creek will also give YOU a $10 gift card
The money we make goes to the Sunshine Committee. We use the money to pay for all faculty parties, the death of a family member, cakes for showers, napkins and utensils for the lounge, Kona Ice, and much more. This money also means that teachers no longer have to GIVE $25 to our committee.

Vertical Teams
If you are a grade level representative for the content vertical team, please make sure you attend that content's district trainings. We MUST have someone from each grade level attend the science trainings and math trainings. If the vertical team member from a grade level can't attend, please have another grade level rep go. If you are not a vertical team member, but want to attend, please join the fun!
When you return, please check in with Chris and/or Mary about what you learned if there is information that needs to be shared campus-wide.
FOSS Trainings
We will be presenting the FOSS inquiry science trainings on the following dates at Denton Creek Elementary in room A107. The trainings will include the hands-on materials and an overview for each FOSS lesson as it connects with Enduring Understandings and Essential Questions for each unit taught throughout the year. Teachers will see how conceptual understanding builds through the hands-on experiences. The official start and end times for the trainings are 3:45 pm - 5:00 pm, however, the stations are self-paced with opportunities to try equipment, ask questions, etc. This is an excellent opportunity to gain an overview of the TEKS-aligned investigations contained within the FOSS boxes.
Sept 8 - 5th Grade

Sept 22 - 3rd Grade
Sept 29 - 4th Grade

Great Expectations
We have completed the first two weeks of school, which means we have implemented practices 1, 6, 9, 13, 14, and 15!!
1. Educators and learners model desired behaviors and attitudes such as those set forth in the life principles and the eight expectations for living.
6. The environment is non-threatening and conducive to risk taking. Mistakes are viewed as opportunities to learn and grow.
9. The Magic Triad, a positive and caring environment and discipline with dignity and logic are evident.
13. A school, class, or personal creed is recited or reflected upon daily.
14. All learners experience success. The teacher guarantees it by comparing students to their own past performance, not the performance of others. Learners are showcased, and past failures are disregarded.
15. Educators teach on their feet, utilizing proximity. They engage learners personally and hold high expectations of learners.
Meeting Room information
The PLC room - The main purpose of this room is for PLCs to meet here daily. If you would like to use this room for planning at another time, just check in with Yolanda.
CHall Meeting Room - C103 is now available for YOU! An Outlook calendar has been shared with you to book this room. We will be using this room for all PBL planning days and professional development. You might want to use this for any lesson where you want a different space, a guest speaker if the library is booked, or any large meeting.
Please follow these simple common sense guidelines and enjoy your new space:
- Do not delete entries on the calendar. (PBL planning dates are already entered.)
- Only use the room if you have reserved it on the shared outlook calendar.
- It's always nice to share! Please be aware that this is a shared room for the campus, so booking the room for a full day for three weeks in a row is probably not the best way to share.
- Leave the room how you found it...this includes cleaning up your mess and putting the furniture back to the meeting arrangement.
Total Physical Response and Vocabulary

Dot Day is Coming
This year, Wilson Elementary will be participating in International Dot Day, September 15ish, but we will be celebrating in the library all week! When your class comes to the library during the week of September 12 – 16, in addition to checking out books, there will be a creative dot activity for the learners to complete. I’m still making plans, but be ready to get creative and collaborate.
What is Dot Day? Created by Peter H. Reynolds, author of The Dot, it is a day to celebrate creativity and to collaborate across the globe. In the past 5.1 million people in 129 countries have participated. I’’ve registered Wilson to join the fun. Here’s a link: International Dot Day.
