A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL COYLE
We have much to celebrate during the month of May! This first week, we will be wrapping up a wildly successful food drive, benefiting the Table of Plenty Food Pantry at Queen of Peace. Our students and families have done an incredible job donating to support our greater community. It always feels good when we’re able to give, and as much as we want to develop intrinsic motivation in our students, I know they are thrilled to watch me be splattered with a pie in the face at our upcoming assembly! This week, we’ll also have the excitement of our PTC’s jog-a-thon, and I am so glad we’re able to bring back this tradition and annual fundraiser. Toward the end of the month, we will be hosting a spring Title I parent night to gather input as we plan for next year’s Title I budget. At this time, we are planning for this to be an in-person event, and we look forward to seeing and hearing from our families!
The number of weeks left in this school year are quickly dwindling. Let’s finish strong!

NATIONAL PHYSICAL FITNESS AND SPORTS MONTH
Here are some ideas for at home:
- Bust out those hula hoops and jump ropes and compete with your family members for longest hoop record or best jump rope trick! These may not be official sports, but they’re a great way to get moving and have fun with your family!
- Catching a little TV? Not a problem! Participate with your family and see if you can hold a plank for an entire commercial break or spend the breaks running in place for a quick and fun family workout.
- Compete with your family in an Olympic Style event! Who can run the fastest sprint or jump the furthest?
- Try a new sport together! Frisbee, badminton, croquet and bocce ball are all easy sports to learn and play in your yard
NATIONAL BETTER HEARING AND SPEECH MONTH
Each May, Better Hearing & Speech Month (BHSM) provides an opportunity to raise awareness about communication disorders and the role of ASHA members in providing life-altering treatment.
For 2022, our theme is “Connecting People.”
Please continue to check our page for updates on our 2022 BHSM campaign. As in previous years, ASHA will be offering free templates, graphics, and more.
