Humphrey Wrap up

A million thanks again to the PTO and all of the LAF families for your contributions to the One School, One Book reading program. I appreciate the time that you set aside to read as a family and getting to know this cute little character. Your feedback and the conversations with your children have been really positive.

As a culminating activity, Lafayette is running a writing contest which will allow twelve students to take Humphrey home forever! The entries should be a paragraph and clearly explain why Humphrey would be happiest with living your family. All entries will need to be submitted as a paper copy. The paragraphs will be due to the main office by February 25th. Winners will be announced on February 29th. Twelve runner ups will receive the second Humphrey book, Friendship According to Humphrey. I am looking forward to reading each entry.

Breakfast with the Musicians

All Fifth Grade Band students will have an extra rehearsal on Friday, February 26th (F day) in preparation for the Breakfast with the Musicians (Saturday, 2/27).

Please help your band student to remember to bring his or her instrument to school on Friday, and we'll see you at the Breakfast!

Waste Free Wednesday Volunteers Needed

Each Wednesday, we would like two parents to be present in the lunchroom to give out Waste-Free Lunch stickers. We invite you to come see your child at lunch and stay for an hour. This fun job involves asking each lunch table to raise their hands if they have a waste free lunch. Then you simply give out stickers to students who packed their food in reusable containers in a reusable lunch box.

The PTO Cafeteria Committee and Green Team

Please sign up for one of the following time slots once you know your child’s lunch period: 11am- 12pm or 12pm to 1pm. Please arrive 5 mins prior to your shift.

Thanks for helping teach about sustainability for our land and oceans! For more info on why waste-free lunches are worth the effort, see:
