Principal's Message

Dear Chehalem Families,

There has been a lot of information shared from the district as we return to hybrid instruction. The good news is that students at our school will be able to keep their teacher, no matter which option you chose (hybrid or CDL). Times for each session are:

  • Morning In-Person Hybrid Instruction Session: 9:00 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.
  • Afternoon Live Online CDL Instruction Session: 12:15 p.m. - 2:30 p.m

Health metrics are looking good for a K/1/2 hybrid start on April 5th and 3/4/5 start on April 12th (for those transitioning from CDL). More information will be coming out from the district this evening. I will share All information with you as quickly as allowed.

Free meals will be available for all students who want them, but will not be consumed on campus and will be cold and need to be heated at home. For those students who want it, a bag containing breakfast, lunch and supper will be given to students as they leave school. Nutrition Services will prepare special meals for those with allergies. If your child remains in CDL you would be able to pick up a week's worth of meals on Wednesdays at school. More information coming about times later.

As students prepare for returning to school you might want to start having them practice mask-wearing for longer periods of time and being able to sit at a desk as well. Below are suggestions about how you might help your children build that kind of stamina if they are coming back in hybrid.

Remember that we have daylight savings time coming on March 14th and we will be off the week of March 22-25th for spring break. Teachers also have three days in their contract for preparing their classrooms for students to return, and for receive trainings on safety protocols. Those dates have not been set, but will likely be during the week after spring break. More information to come soon.

Stay healthy and well!
