The Facts

It's shocking. The average diet that is supposed to have an allowence of 2,000 calories a day and between 45-75 grams of fat (depending on your gender and size this may differ). However, Americans are setting a new standard. A study done by the Live Strong foundation states that in 2003 the average American consumes 2,757 calories a day and 60-90 grams of fat. These numbers are above those that are recomended and are dangerous if there are no cardio exercises immplied with the diet.

Eat This Not That

There are so many choices when it comes to food and there are just as many good as there are bad. So why do we always lean toward the unhealthy side of things? There are so many lite options that you can opt into so why not choose those? Next time you pick up a brownie revaluate and pick up a bar of dark chocolate instead!

Fads That Are Fakes

There are multiple famous diets such as the Atkins and the South Beach Diet that claim that you lose anywhere from 8-13 pounds the first week but what they don't tell you is that these diets will fail to keep that weight off forever. The South Beach is constructed to make you feel like there is hardly any difference in your everyday diet, it consists of 3 meals a day plus 2 snacks. The Atkins however constricts the amount you take in calorie wise and carb wise. The bottom line though is that both diets make the body's hormononal levels uneven and by doing that the body tries to steady it's self and in that process loses weight. Once the person that was on the diet goes back to their normal lives, the weight they lost will make a come back and they are back at square one.
